This book was so good I couldn't stop reading it.
You get a broken girl, who falls for the man that didn't really give her a choice, but he is what she wanted and just didn't know it. does that make sense? lol
Plot: 5/5
Spice: 3/5
Tropes: Stalker, age gap, dark, possessive, billionaire.

I wasn't ready for it to end. I think I'm in a book hangover now. nothing will compare.

Take the trigger warnings for this book seriously. There is borderline romanization of self harm which could be extremely triggering. There is also a lot of suicide ideation.

All in all I enjoyed this book. Layla Frost has a knack for writing male leads I like but the book is not without flaw. Putting my mixed feelings on some of the dark topics aside,  the plot is fairly thin and the mystery that pops up 90% of the way through is very predictable. It wasn't boring though, and it was interesting enough that I blew through it in a day and a half. I wished we'd dived into some of the kink topics more, a lot of the romance felt very rushed. It was an interesting ride though.

The audio book is good.

This was such an intense and deep story. I absolutely love Briar's story so much. Watching her struggle with mental health and past traumas was heartbreaking, but to see her rise up against all odds was absolutely perfect.

"Don’t punish yourself for fiction while ignoring fact.”

I'm also a sucker for a stalker romance, and Alexander is the perfect amount of morally grey. I really enjoyed these 2 characters and their chemistry together. The way he helps Briar stand on her own and work to being better was so endearing.

I was expecting a dark and spicy romance book, but this book was so much more. It was way darker than I’d anticipated, yet there were these brilliant flashes of light and humor. I really loved the author’s style of describing things and adding humor to the most mundane things. Both FMC and MMC were flawed and damaged, yet relatable, human and perfect in their imperfection. I really enjoyed this book.

Just when I thought Deathly (the other book in this unbelievable duet) by Brynne Asher was dark and twistedly tantalizing in waltzes Layla Frost and her half of the duet.

Holy Hell, I can’t even tell you how many emotions I went through in this book! I felt every bit of depression, darkness and hope that Briar and Alexander shared with us.

Briar is beyond Damaged and she has every right to be as broken as she is. Alexander, who’s a little messed up himself, OK a lot messed up, has a history if his own. They come together with a depth of passion and darkness that many “normal” people wouldn’t be able to come back from, yet they survive because they have each other.

So addicting

I've read a few of Layla's books now and she warned me this one was dark and it still took me buy surprise. I'm a sucker for stalker romance and this is the first one I have absolutely fell in love with since the Cat and mouse duet.
