I don't know if it's just that Ricky truly sucks so much in the comics (at least at this point) or that I have a stronger sense of my own beliefs around what community care and justice look like (as in, Rick believing he deserves to lead because he was police...), but I just can't stand the guy. This entry is still bleak, but in a frustrating way.

Deweys Read-A-Thon : Book 4
Total Page Count Overall: 644
meh. I didn't really like this volume. I feel like not much happened and it's turning into a drama series. I don't want a ton of drama, I want the action in this graphic novel series.

Creepy, gory and dark - But oh so intriguing!

It was interesting to see Rick finally crack under the pressure he's been under.

Just shut the fuck up, all of you! Oh my goodness! This was so frustrating.

I mean, some characters more than others, but especially Rick, Tyreese, Carol... I was pretty annoyed with them all the way through.
I don't know, but I just don't like Rick. Many think of him as a badass. Maybe. Many think of him as a leader. Maybe he acts like one. But I just don't think he is. I'm so conflicted. I see, most of his decisions are necessary. But not all of them. I just... I don't know. The more I think about it, the more confused I am.
Tyreese is just an asshole.
Carol is so fucking weird.
Just, no. I... No. I can't.

Don't get me wrong, I like it when a book makes me feel something. This comic made me feel frustration. And that's okay. But please don't let me be frustrated by ALL of the following installments.

HOW CAN SOMEONE WRITE GIRLS SO HORRIBLY?

I am not sure what happened in this volume. Like. Girls turned against girls. Girls just want to get it on and nothing else. Girls just want to please the men. Men fight each other over girls.

Where is the actual story?
Where are the empowering women at?

I feel like this was a filler for the series. I needed more story, and less drama and poorly written women.

At least it was still a masterpiece in the illustrated department. The art is glorious.

Wish I'd gotten the bound volume of 1-8...

LOVED the ending on this one. Would kind of like to see that line in the show.
But whoa.... so different from the show in terms of plotting and what happens to whom.

LOVE Glenn and Maggie in the books. Also loved how Rick's insanity was handled in the book - less drawn out and less extreme. More realistic.

I think I'd give this one 3.5 stars, if it were possible. There's some cool developments in this chapter, and is mostly character development & relationship turning points. A new, seemingly major character is introduced, and shakes things up considerably, though somewhat obviously. Pretty entertaining, and also the first volume where the phrase "Walking Dead" is actually spoken. TITULAR LINE!!!
