So it's gone a bit awry.... This volume read a bit like an over the top teenage drama. So many people having sex with each other. I am generally getting a bit annoyed at how women are portrayed - the are either a huge nag, desperate, or a slut.

Just felt a bit ridiculous to me, especially the huge fight between Tyreese and Rick. I hope the next volume is better.

I feel like not much-progressed storyline wise in this book, they stayed in the same location and like only one new character I think. But I still found it very interesting and cool!

DNF.  That overt racism was distasteful.  There is a way to show racism without using language like they did.

Second read: 2023
So.... yikes. This was definitely the worst volume of the series so far. While I understand that Kirkman wanted to demonstrate the "realness" of the world still coming in despite there being a zombie apocalypse, without going into details, it could have been done with a lot more nuance than I think he can provide as a white man. I also found this volume to have a lot of drama that felt really unnecessary and while I understand it's meant to demonstrate how tensions are high and how the characters are developing.... the pacing of the volume made it feel to quick, too much and I found myself rolling my eyes a little bit. I also wish there were more women involved in the writing of this comic series because some of this volume felt like it was written by a twelve year old boy.
But the discussion at the end? Chilling. I love the last line of this volume and I remember reading it the first time vividly.

First read: 2010 - I don't remember not enjoying this but my frontal lobe was also not developed so keep that in mind.

These are so bad, yet I can't stop reading them. I guess I'm just curious to see the plot differences between this and the TV series (the TV show is far superior to the comic).

This volume was equally ridiculous as the last two.
SpoilerWe see (the amazing in the TV show) Michonne blowing Tyreese; following that, Carol tries to commit suicide and fails miserably; Rick and Tyreese fight over who's the alpha male; Andrea, who is proclaimed by the group as "the best shot", and until yesterday wanted in on all the action the boys were having, decides to give all that up and become a seamstress (bitches be crazy, right?). Meanwhile Glenn and Maggie's only interest is where they'll get laid next; and Lori contributes nothing to the plot, whatsoever. Oh, and Allen dies, but he was mopey and useless, so all the better. AND YOU ALSO EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THAT NONE OF THE 7 (yes, seven) ADULT WOMEN IN THE GROUP WANTED TO BE IN THE COMMITTEE?? LIKE, YOU REALLY EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THAT? That seven women would be so glad to leave all the decision-making to the men? WTF??! Just because it's an apocalyptic scenario, doesn't mean they also went back in time.

The writing is really terrible. It's misogynistic as hell: all the women characters are portrayed as sex-crazed harpies, they also need to be protected by the men and leave all the decisions to the men because their crazy hormones would ruin everything, right? (how old is the writer again?), no one has no integrity at all, and it's getting worse in every volume.

Will this continue to go downhill? We'll find out in the next volume.
