listening as audiobook and im in a situation for a whiile where im just not going to listen to anything. 'twas great otherwise! will defo pick it up again some day.
slow-paced

This audiobook was created by the Audrey app.  I appreciate that the Audrey app includes recaps and character references because for a book like this it is needed.

The narration was captivating and the notes were well done for this story. For a story this long it definitely takes work to put together.

This was a lot to take in the first time. This book was interesting and informative, but the author does go off on random tangents. I would consider rereading this book again to get more out of the story.

Reading along with the chapter-by-chapter podcast Moby Dick Energy, hosted by Talia Levin.

At one chapter a week, this is going to take me a while.

I had trouble with the dated language at first (which is 100% my fault and also why I need to read more classic lit) but eventually I got in the groove. Also had trouble with all the many many chapters on whales u til I started to love them. Really interesting to actually read this bc obviously “white whale” is such a common term for obsession that I knew this story but actually reading it and getting to know the characters and the interests of Melville is great. Really interesting to see the incredibly-dated-but-probably-progressive-for-the-time view of different races and on sailing and on different parts of the world. I love Ishmael. Overall: I had a great time (a whale of a time?).

The classic tale of how obsession can eat away at us if we let it.

The adaptation is really nice but the story is nothing special. Only check it out since I've heard so much about Moby Dick and then Rodney M'kay was scared of it so wanted to see what's the big deal.
