I really enjoyed Flynn's Sharp Objects, which was a particularly creepy thriller. Dark Places, in which Libby Day tries to discover whether her brother Ben really did murder her family in a satanic ritual, as she testified to as a child, didn't have the same appeal. The solution was so convoluted, and everyone involved is so deeply unpleasant - I didn't particularly care about the solution, in the end.

I enjoyed this book so much more than I anticipated!! Im so mad at myself for waiting so long to pick it up!

The story follows Libby Day, who survived the murder of her mother and two sisters back when she was 7. Her brother went away for the murder.

This book went between current to back then and really showed you the story and how everything unfolded.

After 25 years, Libby decides to look closer to what actually happened last night.

I felt like the pacing for this book was so well done, there wasn’t a boring moment in my opinion. You follow multiple POVs of the family and we also got to see how Libby grew up after it all went down.

Although I didn’t really connect with any characters in this book, the plot twists really surprised me and the banter between Libby and others were too funny. She didn’t really know how to communicate the best way.

If you haven’t read this one and enjoy family annihilators, satanic cults, and lives being changed all because of a single day, this one is worth the read!

It's always nice to be truly caught off guard by a twist at the end. Liking Gilian Flynn and her ability to go dark more and more.
