I've read other books where sex is open and used for magic or power or whatever and that felt fine. This almost feels like in trying to normalize sex it's being made a big deal of. I think this is a me thing since the book is highly rated.

I was worried this would be gratuitous smut without any real substance, but the kink-based magic system and broad cast of characters pleasantly surprised me. I especially loved the seamless inclusion of a nonbinary and intersex character, who quickly became one of my favorites.
