My first thoughts after I finished reading this was “this is going to sit with me for a while.” Sometimes after you read something, you just need to take the time to sit with and digest what you just read. Just very masterfully and beautifully written. The words just floated off the pages and created such vivid images in my head, and I am someone that very often has trouble visualizing what I am reading. If I was smarter or a more literary inclined person, I would go into more details regarding the parallel we see between the first and second part and how it made me feel and such. It’s one of the books that I almost regret not having a physical copy of that I can annotate and go back to for further analysis. I really don’t have any words, not right now at least. This was a just a phenomenal read. Free Palestine.

Hard to read because of the subject matter but so important. Eventhough the novel is only a little over 100 pages, it shows really well what life under occupation is like for Palestinians.

there’s no other words to describe this book than dread-filled. it was a difficult but incredibly necessary book to read and adania shibli immerses you a whole expansive world in just 112 pages and leaves you gasping for air at how restrictive it feels.

While this was short, MINOR DETAIL was still able to captivate my attention in both physical and audible formats. It reads like nonfiction even though it's historical fiction. Adania Shibli's prose is rich as she does all but hold back about the Palestinian struggle.

Poignancy was the main feeling I had reading this book. It's easy to sympathize and empathize with the women in both parts of the story, as they face oppression and outright brutality at the hands of Israel's occupying forces.

I'm glad I finally got to read this after having been on a waitlist through my library since November.

Holy shit.
If I’ve read a book with this writing style before, it’s been long enough that I don’t remember it.
This book is exceptional.  Even when nothing was happening, I was still tense and riveted.
Wow.

A tremendous piece of work. A visceral representation of occupation, violence and erasure.
