This was a very engaging book. I enjoyed the plot and character development very much. I did not give it a higher rating because it is very much YA literature in the sense that some of developments feel very expected and some of the writing feels obvious. Very enjoyable nonetheless.

Excellent middle grade story. After the main character, Chase Ambrose falls off the roof of his house, he develops amnesia. Chase was a bully in his former life. Will he continue his old habits, or change his ways? Funny and poignant story.

This YA book was a true delight to read and I look forward to recommending it and sharing it with my middle school students next year.
It may be a YA book but there is value in books such as this one and children’s books for adults as well. How can we recommend appropriate and high interest books to our youth if we are not familiar with the books intended for those audiences? Great lessons for all to learn and be reminded.
The lesson in this book- our past mistakes do not have to define us. We can learn from our mistakes and strive to be the best person we can be. Hopefully we don’t have to fall off a rooftop and suffer amnesia in order to make the changes- as the main character Chase did in the book Restart. Already I am inspired to read other books by [a: Gordon Korman]. I am sure they will be fun reads with great lessons, just like Restart.

It’s definitely fun to read about a bully starting over because he has amnesia. The possibilities are endless. Unfortunately, Chase was really BAD before he fell so this brand new Chase is hard for everybody to swallow. I struggled throughout, wanting him to be good but I was genuinely afraid every time I sensed he would learn a new awful fact about himself. Actually, I would stop reading for a little bit to brace myself. I wish the stereotypes weren’t so strong in this, there’s a bit of a high school musical vibe going on with the bullies being football players, but that theme is still relevant, albeit a little old. I think kids will enjoy reading this, the tension of it may make them as crazy as it made me! I’m thinking of getting a class set for next year.
