3.3 AVERAGE

medium-paced
Loveable characters: Yes

It had potential, but with different characters.

Didn't particularly like any of the characters except perhaps Bertha. At first I was thinking 3 stars because while it wasn't overly life shattering good, it was entertaining. But then towards the end I found I didn't really care what happened.

Not great writing, unsympathetic characters and a chiffon-transparent plot. However, I must admit I had trouble putting it down. Couldn't exactly tell you why, but there it is.

An enjoyable read for fans of Downton Abbey.

An interesting story about an American heiress (shocking, I know) who tries to find happiness by going to England to find a husband. It is interesting to hear the point of view of both Cora (the heiress) and her lady's maid Bertha. It's set in 1890 I believe, so the history is also interesting. It's a bit graphic in parts, but the story is well told and interesting.

465 pgs. 200 too many in my view. Lots of plot development that seemed unnecessary. There were points of comedy, pages of interest and chapters where pages turned easily. But there was also too tidy an ending, which left things a bit flat for me.

a light, entertaining, fast read.

Listened to this book. Easy to listen to and work on a stitching project
I liked the ending

I'm still unsure what I think about this book. It made me very anxious, for some reason, and I felt like the author tried too hard to wrap up the end in such a way as to leave room for a sequel.
