I loved this book....an American marries a rich duke and learns the ways of English society back in the 1800's.

Kind if downtown abbey like, an American girl with a lot of money whose mom want her to have a title. A duke who needs money, a twisted love story with a lot of society thrown in and a girl who never can seem to act correctly.

The middle was the best part. I thought the beginning was really slow and a bit boring. Then I was ready for it to wrap up at the end.

Loved it! Perfect cure for my Downtown Abbey withdrawal. It's been awhile since I devoured a book so quickly.

As a young teen, I consumed the romantic works of Barbara Cartland. While another 35 years have passed since then, I can't help but regard this as a super-sized Barbara Cartland romance. It was pleasant enough, but formulaic.

Moved very quickly through the life of The American Heiress. A little disappointed with the ending. Felt that too little was resolved for my taste. Loved the writing, character development, descriptions, etc.

Really enjoyed the book, it was descriptive but not overdone and a charming glimpse into the life of late 19th century aristocracy. I have to admit, I pictured Cora's mother as the mother from Titanic the whole time haha. And I liked Cora's character arc, how much she changed while staying true to herself; I also found it interesting and enjoyable to get so many chapters from the perspective of her maid Bertha. A bit of an upstairs downstairs vibe. It was a bit slow at first, very meandering, but I sped through the second half! A perfect summer read.

Delightful read that had me challenged - used the dictionary feature on my Kindle every few pages. The way the story wrapped up left something to be desired. However I was enthralled with the descriptions of costumes and customs throughout. If you liked Downton Abbey and historical fiction, you may enjoy getting lost in this novel. If you seek deep emotional connection to characters and neat and tidy endings, skip it.

Enjoyable book although at some point I wanted to slap each of the main characters.

the perfect amount of fluff in a historical fiction!
