I read this because a) it had some pretty favorable reviews and b) it was narrated by one of my faves - Kathleen Kellgren - anyway - don't bother. It's pretty superficial and dumb. I wanted to love it and I didn't. I'm in a reading rut and I need help :(
3.5⭐️
I really enjoyed the drama but it took me 200+ to really get into it but i am glad i didn’t DNF cuz it was enjoyable

I liked this blend of historical fiction/romance/literary fiction; but purists for those genres might not.
slow-paced
I give this 3.5 stars. I did not like the Duke at all and wished it had ended differently. I'm not sure if this was due to the historical accuracy of the time, but it fell short in my opinion. At times it reminded me of a pale version of Gone With The Wind
Interesting enough to keep reading, but it kind of dragged on for too long. The bit of mystery in it was fun though. This wasn't my usual genre of reading
It took a little bit to get into the story but once I did I really enjoyed it. This definitely was a cross between Downton Abbey and something from Jane Austen in my opinion.

Meh. I think I read somewhere that this is comparable to Downton Abbey, uhhh, not at all. I found the author writing a little bold for the time. The last name of the "rich" family was "Cash", which I found a little obvious and annoying. The storyline was kinda bland with not much going on for a 470 page book. I'd put this book rated below 3 stars. I wouldn't recommend this for others because of the huge length and lack of intrigue. I do have to say I ended up skimming much of it once I was half way through and realized it wasn't going anywhere, so maybe I did miss something...I don't really think so though.
Although I did not care for the main character in the beginning, I think she developed in maturity and humility as the book progressed. The plot was predictable, but it was still a page-turner (465 pages to be exact). The ending did not provide the closure I needed, but perhaps that's because I was hoping it would end differently.
