Parts of this book were incredibly frustrating. However, this resulted in a higher pay off at other times. I did enjoy this book, but found it hard to get through some parts. In short my feelings about this book are mixed. I would recommend you read it for yourself and make up your own mind.
Wow I was going to give this book five stars and then that ending came. The ending REALLY pissed me off and I kinda want to give this book one star now. But I remember how much I enjoyed the writing style and rich content. I couldn’t put it down and the hate I festered for all the characters just made me want to read more. Now I’ll just imagine the ending that I and probably everyone else wanted.
I felt more invested in the side characters than others. I enjoyed the book for the most part, and couldn't wait to see what happened in the end. But at the same time-- I don't really understand the meaning behind some of the choices the characters make throughout the novel. Or even some of the decisions Daisy makes for those characters. Like why have the Mother have such a drastic and scary event happen to her, when it doesn't really affect the rest of the book? I'm not sure-- it left off like there will/is a second book. But I think I'd be okay either way.
I have mixed feelings about this book. On a whole it wasn't that spectacular. The characters were barely loveable, but still I couldn't put it down.
4.75/5 stars
Wow I have a lot of thoughts about the ending of this book that I just need to get out, so i apologize in advance if this review makes no sense. First off by far my favorite part about this book was the characters. I grew really invested in each of their different story lines. I felt all the emotions watching Cora grow and develop as a character and, while not as prominent as Cora's story line, I loved reading about her maid Bertha. I wasn't too happy with the ending because it is not what I would have picked for Cora. But even though I didn't get my way with the events at the end I thought this was an amazingly written story.

Such a fun read and insight into life in the gilded age.
I enjoyed this book. It's similar to the show "Downton Abbey", however it does take place a little bit earlier in history. I learned about American women who inherited their fathers fortunes and moved to England to marry English royalty. I only wish this story had a more direct plot line.
