I really enjoyed the Parent Trap aspect of this book. Lord brings back her amazing character dialogues and laughter. But overall, I just didn't enjoy as much as I did Tweet Cute.

Abby and her best friends take a DNA test together. It’s meant to help Leo find possible relatives as he is adopted. But he doesn’t get a match. Abby gets a match and a message that says she has a sister and her sister wants to meet her. Abby doesn’t tell Leo. They are in a weird place because almost kissed and haven’t talked about it. Abby agrees to meet Savannah but doesn’t tell anyone but Connie. Her other best friend. Savannah wants Abby to go to summer camp so they can get to know each other and find out why their parents have never told them about each other. When she arrives she finds out that this is the camp
Leo has been attending and that he is friends with Savannah. Leo still doesn’t know that Savannah is Abby’s sister. Meanwhile Abby and Savannah have an instant rivalry reminiscent of a modern day Parent Trap. I love the way Emma Lord spins a such modern stories. I had high expectations after Tweet Cute and they were met.

Leo was adopted from Singapore. He wants to find some of his relatives so he signs up to have a DNA test to see if he can find any other relatives. He convinces besties, Abby and Connie to sign up as well for a discount. Unfortunately he doesn't get any information, but Abby discovers she has a "full-blooded sister" (both of the same parents) who is about a year and a half older than her. Savvy (Savannah) is working at a camp and convinces Abby to come so they can get to know each other before telling their parents. Cute story, love triangles, miscommunications and lots of adventures.

Abby and Leo’s love story made me feel so many emotions and I most definitely cried at multiple points over it. Abby and Savvy’s friendship that formed out of discovering their matching profile on a DNA site brought so much joy, and the excitement and drama of summer camp right out of high school was very clear and written so well. One of my favorite YA books so far this year!

I'm not sure what I was suspecting, but I didn't think this book was going to be much more than a cute story about finding a secret sister via DNA match. I enjoyed the growth in characters, how realistic most of the issues were dealt with, and how things ended. Parts of the story tugged on heart strings in ways I wasn't prepared for.

You Have a Match is the second book that I have had the pleasure of reading by author Emma Lord, and I’m so thrilled to have read the book! I read Tweet Cute, also by this author, last year, and enjoyed the book SO much. (Especially considering that it was a You’ve Got Mail retelling!) I couldn’t wait to see how this new novel would compare, and I definitely was not disappointed!

Let’s start with the storyline for the book… I don’t think I have read many, (if any), books where a character has learned of a sibling from taking a DNA test. It was definitely interesting to read the story of how Abby discovered the sister that she never knew she had, and I really wanted to know everything happened to begin with. This storyline made the book a really quick read for me. I was hooked as I turned the pages because I just needed to know what happened in the past that kept these girls apart. (It’s a really good story, by the way, so if you’re curious, check it out.)

The book also has some really great characters as well. I love Abby, especially her love for photography. (I love it as well, and this book definitely made me want to get out with my camera ASAP.) I love her relationship with her friends and her family, including her grandfather who had recently passed away. And I loved watching her relationship grow with her long lost sister as well.

Overall; You Have a Match was such a cute read, and I’m so glad that I decided to check out the book. Emma Lord has once again managed to make me fall in love with her books, and I absolutely can’t wait to read more of them in the future. If you like a cute contemporary read, do check out You Have a Match!

Happy Reading!

Total Parent Trap vibes here! Such a cute and heart warming story that had me laughing then crying then laughing again. The summer camp setting kept it fun and light hearted and reminded me of when I would go to camp.
Lord encapsulated so many different emotions that made me feel connected to all of the characters, even minor ones. All of the charcuterie had their flaws, but that also made them easy to relate to. Witty banter and back and forth conversations kept the plot moving. Didn’t feel like anything was unnecessary or took away from the plot either.
