Great read, laughed out loud several times. Love the characters although it seems like the book ended without anything actually happening. Guess I have to read the next book now.
I'm really over the rich man/poor woman trope in romances, but then Breene makes it worse. So not only is the male character majorly advantaged because 1) he's a man and 2) he's rich, but then Breene has to add immortal and in the upper echelon of the supernatural hierarchy. Plus the female character isn't just poor--she lives well below the poverty line, and of course, doesn't know her own power until rich and powerful shows her.
I really slogged through this one and then I realized why. This is the same setup as Breene's Forged by Fire. A few differences, but the same character and plot set up.
It would be so nice to see someone turn this trope on its head by making the woman rich and powerful and the dude poor and not knowing what he was capable of.

I don’t normally read science fiction, it’s just not my thing. I don’t even know why I downloaded this book! I am so glad I did. I loved the characters, even the side characters were great. Waiting impatiently for part 2.

Main male character was toxic. No specific mentions of anything in San Francisco was disappointing. Why use a real city? Also I read that the series only gets worse from here.
Amo fantasia, e este livro mistura fantasia contemporânea com mitologia grega, tornando a narrativa bem mais interessante. Gostei bastante da protagonista, uma jovem forte e decidida a garantir, em primeiro lugar, a segurança das pessoas a quem ela ama. Muito bom.
