4.5 stars rounded up! This one surprised me, it really did, because I ended up reading nearly the entire book in one day. Did I know I enjoyed a SUPER slow burn this much? No, no I did not, but in this case I do! I love how Breene gave us a FMC that stuck to her guns and her priorities and honestly no hookups in the first book of a 6-book series was incredibly refreshing, and it’s fun watching the Demigod squirm. The world and character building was done very well and the setup for the rest of the series was impeccably done. Can’t wait to read the next one!

Awesome characters in an Interesting World

Sin & Chocolate is a great paranomal romance! These characters are fresh and unique. The magical world they live in is interesting and original.
🔱
Alexis & Kieran have a dynamic that is fun to “watch” and I can’t wait to read more of their story!

Really good start to an interesting world with demigods, ghosts, shifters and a bunch of witty banter.

Alexis is a really interesting and dynamic FMC who has clearly had to do everything for herself (and her 2 teenage wards) for most of her life. Self sufficient to a fault and very guarded. I hope as the series progresses she learns to let people in and let them help her.

Kieran is a demigod and the son of a Demigod on a mission t on help his mom find peace and move on. He’s compassionate and kind with a dirty mouth. Basically perfection. And he wants to help Alexis - course she refuses at every turn which is infuriating lol

The side characters in this book are epic. They really took the story to another level for me. I’m looking at you Morty, Daisy, Frank and the Six!!!!!

Can’t wait to see what trouble this group gets into in the next book!

There wasn't really a plot, just lots of set up for the next book.

A friend recommended this series, and I am not disappointed in the least.

This book introduces us to the demigods and lesser fae that reside in a modern day San Francisco. Humans and fae are separated in different parts of the city and there’s a small area in the middle where a bit of both reside. This is where our story begins…

Alexis and 2 children that she has taken into her home and raised as her own are struggling to make ends meet. A chance encounter with a demigod turns her life completely upside down. She learns more about who she is, and that her gifts might not be what they seem.

We also are introduced to major conflict as we meet the evil antagonist who, like many other antagonists, wants to gain more power over the city and rule it as his own. We hate a power hungry prick with control issues. (Word of advice to Mr. Bad Guy, get some therapy).
