Probably wouldn’t read it again but it wasn’t a bad read over all. I think I would’ve liked to see a bit more going on especially with Kieran’s mum ~ certain things felt a bit filler and if they were ditched for a few sections with a bit more substance around the main plot then this book could’ve covered a lot more ground

Demigods have realed me in!
Wow! What’s next? This is a fabulous start to an amazing series! So well written, smoothly transitioning from one point of view to the next. Sex, humility and adventure, all in one story! I want more!

I don't know why this was so. My TBR for so long, this is such a fantastic book. The characters were all brought to life so well and the two teenagers were comedy gold. I highlight passages or sentences I find amusing, intriguing or interesting and basically the entire book has highlighter marks. Lexi is such a phenomenal character that shows you can be tough but still sensitive with an open heart. That you don't have to be a monster to make it in the world. Kieran and Lexi's romance was fire. Everyone was saying how this is a slow burn so that's what I was preparing for going into it, but if this is slow burn to them then I've been reading romance that's progressed at a glacial pace because this was an almost instantaneous attraction with electricity I could feel on the other end of the book. There were some parts that made me cringe a little but overall I love their game of cat and mouse. I felt the reveal of who Lexi is was a bit glaringly obvious with the subtlety of a sledgehammer but then that about describes our MC so it works out. Overall I am so excited to start the next book in this series!
Alexis is a magical person trying to live under the radar in a magical/ non-magical world because she’s taking care of two teen-age wards who must remain hidden. One is wise and very ill. The other is irreverent and scheming and funny. They’re both good kids and provide a lot of humor to the story.
Kieran is a Demi-god who runs into Alexis accidentally—almost literally. He detects her off-the-wall power level, which she is unaware of. She intrigues him. She doesn’t know him and thinks of him as a stalker. He comes to realize that he needs her powers and tries to convince her to help him. Alexis is afraid to come out of hiding, as Kieran’s father is the evil demigod of San Francisco and she’s be going up against him. One thing is resolved by the end of the book, but the story arc is ongoing.
Fans of Darynda Jones will enjoy this series.

Series Review:
I will admit to being sad this one is over. It hooked me pretty early on and has me wanting more.
The main characters are easy to like. Well, at first I wasn't sure about Lexie because of how we are introduced to her, but quickly my opinion changed. She and her wards are my favorite in this series. They are a tight-knit family and when together are hilarious. I did wish we got more from Kiernan's group, since they faded more into the background.
The plot was interesting to me. Each book has its own problem, with the series having an overarching big bad. I think it worked out really well, keeping things from getting stale and making sure the books kept moving. The action levels are different in every book and aren't always resolved the same way. I really liked learning more and more about Lexie's power, although I still don't totally understand her entire scope or why she isn't... something else.
I will say that the beginning had me confused. I would have appreciated more information on the world, why things are zoned-- how places were zoned, and how demi-gods came to basically rule their territories. There is a lot of background information missing which would have helped me enjoy being in this world much more.
Another thing that I felt could have used more work was the romance. It felt so fast to me. I could have used more build up or at least more gradual. Their meet cute felt more awkward than not too. I did like how Kiernan was called on his not great behavior, so the relationship doesn't feel unequal or unhealthy. I do like the couple together, no qualms there, but... it felt like something was off. Honestly, if it wasn't for how the romance was done I'd call this series a Urban Fantasy, but how the romance is handled really turns this more into a PNR.
This series had me laughing often and the action is fantastic. I like so much of this series and can only hope that we will be getting more-- a spin-off, or something. The end of book 3 does hint at more to come.

I really enjoyed this book!
This book is set in a world where magical people exist in normal society but live separately to non-magical people; except for in dual-society zones which tend to be poorer. There's tension between the two sides, along with prejudice and magical racism.
The magic is based on mythology, with some more powerful beings described as Demigods and from the mains 3 God lineage (Zeus, Posideon and Hades)
Alexis has power but keeps herself hidden in a dual society zone to look after her two wards, until Mr Sexy pants comes along
I love the back and forths between Alexis and Kieran, their obvious want for each other, but I also love her relationship with the two kids she's looking after. It's super adorable and I'm here for it
Her whole deal is helping people and she shows that throughout the book - she takes noone's shit, especially Kieran's
I love the mythology of Selkies and their focus in the series really interests me. If you know me, you KNOW I have a love for Mermaids, Selkies, Sirens and Kelpies as well as all kinds of greek mythology - this is both mixed into one!
I've already downloaded the next book and can't wait to see where their relationship goes ❤️
