The pacing was pretty slow and so focused on environmental storytelling that I got impatient. Planning to finish another day
This is a classic Kate Morton read - it quickly pulls you into the lives of Jess and her grandmother, Nora, and the unspoken family tragedy that has been defining their lives since it happened.
I love reading in a time when I can just enjoy the fast-pace and the suspense and revel in a few days of entertainment. I did find that this particular book contained a few too many coincidences and fantastic secrets revealed in boxes stashed away in the attic. But, it is still definitely worth the read.

Started off very slow, then I finished the last third of the book in 2 days. It was worth the wait for the plot twists, but it takes a really long time to get there.

There was a lot about this book that I enjoyed, but I'm glad it's finally over. It was way too unnecessarily long and drawn out.
I liked her style of writing, will check out other books by Morton. I liked Polly and the scenes from 1959.
I disliked Jess and Nora after awhile. Jess is such a weak character and Nora pissed me off to no end. I'm so mad at them for Polly's sake. I figured out the twist early, so it wasn't really a big mystery.
The last 25% or so I didn't listen very clearly so I honestly don't know how they were poisoned, lol!
Overall, it didn't leave me satisfied. I was disappointed by how these characters just could not communicate!
Oh, and the jumping around from POV to POV and year to year was confusing. WHY DO AUTHORS DO THIS!?
