Really enjoyed this book! I liked the switch between the different characters, and the storyline was really interesting. Loved the new take on the different dragon species.

this massive beast was daunting at first, but once i was hooked… i was HOOKED. this is probably one of my favorite fantasy novels of all time. it has everything i could ever want; intricate world building artfully weaved into the story instead of the author just spewing pages and pages of exposition, a slow burn somewhat-enemies-to-lovers sapphic romance, and maybe most importantly: powerful women and diverse representation that doesn’t feel cheap or forced. not to mention pirates, magic, dragons, a mythical sword, found family and conclusion that had me flying through the last 200 pages. i am absolutely obsessed with this story and i’m really looking forward to reading a day of fallen night!

It took me months to finish this, but I also had to step away from it for a month or two. To me, it was super slow and kind of boring. Yea, it's well written, but I just couldn't get past how slow it was. I kind of forced myself to finish it just because I'm not one to leave books unread, but the ending was hardly even worth it to me.

i heard PRAISES sung about this book & was super excited for it, especially because it’s queer! however, the book was incredibly long & was not as queer as i was expecting it to be. it took me about 1 month to read this book & i was very over it by the end which makes me so sad! the writing was well done, it was just a bit too long in my opinion. overall an okay book, i wish i liked it more than i did. also, for all the recommendations this book got in sapphic book recommendation videos / posts i wish it was more sapphic!! i for sure thought that was going to play a much bigger role than it did & i would have loved to see that
