I know this is a novella, but it felt really rushed. I did enjoy the ending though.
Meh - nothing stellar about this. I listened to it while I did my house cleaning and dinner prep today, but it was very predictable. The only reason I gave it 3 instead of 2 stars was because I liked the cop character (although I'm not quite sure why). The audible narration was okay. The female voice was okay, but it was just goofy when the narrator did the voice of Cormac. That said, I might consider another book in the series at another point in time.
good short story with an intense plot. too short for a more in depth review
This novella started out with an interesting premise and then just fizzled out. I saw the twist unfolding about 1/4 of the way in. The ending was extremely lackluster. I might be interested in the original series as this is just an in-between novella, but there wasn't enough character development of Cormac Reilly for me to truly be invested.
Very interesting read, I will definitely go back and read the other books in the series.
This audio novella by Dervla McTiernan was pretty suspenseful, and it held my attention. I wish Cormac Reilly would have had a more prominent role in the story, but it was pretty good nonetheless. The plot could have been developed more, but I think that’s the nature of it being a novella. The narration by Aiofe McMahon is really good, and I love her Irish accent and the Irish setting of the book.
great little novella, with an introduction for the Cormac Reilly. This was a great little listen, just two and a half hours. The story fitted a lot in during that time and although it was a little predictable it was still a nice read. The main character, Niamh, was really likeable and you were hoping for a happy ending for her, despite it seeming like her life was falling apart. It did seem really short and I’m sure it could have been made into a full length novel with a little more substance.
Quick little mystery. I guessed the murderer about midway through the story. It was enjoyable enough to pass the time, but the end left a lot to be desired. It seemed like the story was ramping up to an action packed ending and it just kind of fizzled out with no action and no real resolution.
