Apparently this book has some intense critics but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a slow start for me but after about 80 pages, I was in. I loved all the characters and the many themes in this book. I’m excited for the second one.

I have always loved this book. Cozy, funny, and heartwarming, this is a story about second chances, love, and family. Some of my fav quotes:

“Dreams are merely dream. They’re meant to be flights of fancy. Theirs not necessarily supposed to come true.”
“And hey here you are by the sea, far away from your chair and your home.” She stopped and turned her face towards the sky
“There’s music everywhere, Mr. Baker. You just have to learn to listen to it.

“Hate is loud, but, I think you’ll learn it’s because it’s only a few people shouting, desperate to be heard. You might not ever be able to change their minds, but so long as you remember you are not alone, you will overcome. “- Linus

“You’re too precious to put into words. I think It like one of Theodore’s buttons, if you asked him why he cared about them so, he would tell you it’s because they exist at all.” - Arthur

I am surprised I didn't like this book more, but for some reason it didn't speak to me. My absolute favorite part of the book were the kids and all their quirks/personalities (especially Chauncey!).
