Got into it not knowing if I would enjoy this book, as it is when I finally decide to read a classic. But I can now say this is now one of my favorite books of all time.

I had fun reading this book. So here I am, writing a review like 10 days after I read it but hey- better late than never! Funny thing is I'm almost at the end of Murakami so, yeah I'm quite late with this review.

For me, this was the psychological book. One of those that makes us you think about the life you know.Religion, sexuality, life, death, even your own mirror reflection. It's written in the way that you can read it easy but no everyone can understand, who knows maybe even I didn't get the point but I think I did. So it's safe to say that this is a book you read between the lines.

The idea of reading this book came to me by listening to BTS album "Wings", an album based on this book. Dark concept searching for both angel and demon in you was something I liked right away so I knew that it's the right choice for me and I was right.

Overall I liked this book and I strongly recommend.

SRB:

DID NOT FINISH: 53%

DNF @ 53%

I read the first 100 pages and I thought that was it, only to realize that I had another 100 more pages to go. No thanks. I'm not going to finish this. I hate everything about this book. I don't care about whatever the hell Sinclair was discussing with Demian. God, morality, sexuality, whatever. I genuinely have no idea what they were talking about most of the time and I certainly don't care about that stuff at all. And I specially don't care about Sinclair's life and what was happening to him.

DID NOT FINISH

I really liked the writing, but my god this book was so incredibly slow. Could not for the life of me get into this book.

EN: How I missed the clarity and depth of Hermann Hesse! I was hoping for a revival of my experience with "Steppenwolf" – and I can say my wish was fulfilled. Now comes one more book I'll always recommend.

"Demian" (1919) is the coming-of-age story of Emil Sinclair – a middle class schoolboy who (un)consciously sets himself on a journey of self-discovery and individuation. In his struggles to make meaning and take position in a pre-I World War arena, someone offers company and guidance – the enigmatic Max Demian. What follows is a simple, but rich exposition of thoughts, situations and challenges that was very hard for me not to be affected by – intelectually and emotionally.

I'd stop at a lot of paragraphs to process the 1001 reflections they inspired. The book is filled with imaginative, but comprehensible explorations of concepts Hesse borrowed from psychoanalyst Carl Jung – to my delight. I have nothing to criticise – to me, this is flawless piece of art, to which I hope to return soon.
