Excellent well-written book. It is a mystery but also an exploration of characters and motives. You want to keep reading because the book is that good but then are sad when you finish because there is no more to read.

These books, man. They’re just the best. I always enjoy every single twist and turn, and, as I mention every time, the character development. I swear I know these characters better than I know myself. Louise Penny is so good at creating these huge and seemingly unwieldy story lines, but always navigates them so well. Excited for what this story set up for future books, too. Always a pleasure, Monsieur Armand!

The big gun in woods storyline is always a little odd in this series, but I've come to like this installment of the Three Pines folk more with subsequent rereads since I did on first read. I also think it's a little jarring because this is where the audio changes narrators, and the new narrator finds more of his groove in the following books.
