A sweet soft well written story of angst and tension focused on learning how to live your life when trying to balance responsibility/self-sacrifice with being kind/authentic to your own needs/wants.

Good premise but not a fun read

I loved the premise of the book but the execution was lacking. None of the characters were believable or very interesting. The plot plodded along and I struggled to force myself to finish the book. The romantic relationship in the book weren’t fully fleshed out and I really didn’t care whether anyone ended up together or not.

Didn't quite nail it as A Far Wilder Magic did, but enjoyable. Kind of feels like there were chunks missing, perhaps would have benefited from becoming a duology.

i just couldn’t see the chemistry in the romance, which is unfortunate since that’s the main focus. along with this, the fantasy kingdoms really did not need to be made into fantasy versions of ireland and england, as the political commentary was paper-thin and just couldn’t hold its own.
i also found
how quickly rosa’s dad gave up on the duel to be unrealistic, given how intense he had been before
. (also even with niamh being disabled, it was rarely discussed and no one around her seemed concerned at all).just overall really wasn’t my thing.
