3.5⭐️ I’m not sure his I feel about this one. It was a very quick easy read especially with the short chapters. I was excepting something way better then this though based on other reviews, like did we read the same book?

Woah, what the F did my eyeballs actually just read??? Agree with other reviewers that this is more of a psychological thriller - but man is it chilly and dark! Being a new mother myself, some scenes and depictions were really hard to read. But that last line though! Worth it. Build up was perfect, not drawn out in my opinion. Loved it!

This was a very interesting book. There was so much going on that it was like I was reading 2-3 books mixed together. On one hand you have the story of Blythe, Violet, and Fox. I found this to be the most interesting of the three. It was very suspenseful and nerve-wracking at times. Then you have the story of Etta, who is Blythe's grandmother and her life when she was younger. Thirdly, there was Blythe when she was a young girl and her relationship with her mother. I think I get what the author was going for: the connections of these three generations of women. However, the story of Violet didn't seem to fit.

It took me a little bit to get used to the second person narration. I think it could've been done in regular first person. The story was so much geared towards her telling her ex-husband I guess.

I don't really even know how to rate this book. I am not sure what the novel was trying to be, a psychological thriller, a literary story about generations of mental illness among women? I don't know.

It was definitely a page turner though and I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next (in the present day timeline).
