This is such a fun and entertaining series. I love Anita Blake. The first part of the book was a little slow. But then the story exploded with violence, gore, and thrills. I also must admit I am loving the tension betwen Anita and Jean-Claude. Surely I am not the only one.

Trigger warning for the ableism, anti-SW, and other -isms that are painful in this book. But the story kept my attention. That is, when the author wasn't throwing intestines around for shock value.

I'm really glad I decided to try the Anita Blake series again. Loved this one. I'm curious how it will evolve based on what I know of how the series progresses, but I'm going to go along for the ride for awhile.

I enjoyed this book, but this series is a dark one. The ending was not at all what I expected.
