En la línea del anterior. Me cargan un poco tantas descripciones de los autendos de la protagonista. Sin embargo, tiene mejor ritmo y mejor final que el primero.

I'm told that this series degenerates into a prurient mess, later, but this book's okay in a simple way. I can't get enough books with a real female protagonist who is in charge of herself and her destiny, and Anita starts out fairly strong.

The world's not quite different enough, or I don't get to see the differences, for a world where so much is "commonly" known about the paranormal, but that's not the worst thing in the world.

I imagine if Anita Blake participated in speed dating, it would look a little like this: "Hi, I'm Anita Blake. I raise the dead for the living, and constantly question the state of my humanity--yippee. I say yippee a lot. And naw. It's kind of irritating. As are the fragmented sentences I rely on for communication. I wear Nikes and have to mention the type of weapons I use each and every single time I go to use them--just in case I forget what they are. I talk about how I'm so short all the time, because clearly I have to point out my one tragic flaw that prevents me from being as good at fighting as The Boys. I wear black and hate the color pink, because I have an ingrained misogynistic attitude towards women--women who don't try to act and play like men are just plain stupid. And friendship with women is weird: it's all marriage and wearing pink and getting drunk. I'd rather drink my coffee and stew in a corner alone, thank you very much. I'm also the new human servant of the Master of the City--Jean Claude. He's a monster, but he's also dreamy. Sue me. Have I told you about my Browning yet? Naw."

Annoyed yet? Hamilton certainly knows how to throw together the right amount of terrible traits to make one hell of an annoying character. How did I like her so much when I was a teenager? And Hamilton is still a terrible writer.

The one saving grace that this book had that GP didn't have was the gore. The horror scenes in this about the zombie attacks were gruesome and well done.

If I thought the first book was violent and gross, it´s because I haven´t read this one yet. Bloody crime scenes, decompose zombies e wounds. Anita doesn´t change much, since the book starts almost in the moment the other one finishes.
The history is a little depressing IMO, and too much horror for me.. I got Princess Diaries to read one so, cause if I kept reading about nasty zombies before bed I´d end up having nightmares. There´s humor in the book, some of Anita´s lines are hilarious, but in the end the feeling is a bunch of bizarre passages, bloody corpses, that the funny part is lost in the middle of it.

Ah, and I don´t know why the series is called Anita Blake, the Vampire Hunter, cause it´s all about zombies, and almost no vamps.

Read 10/16/18 (Audiobook)
Liking the series so far. Having trouble picturing Jean Claude in my head, but Ellen Paige is my pick for Anita Blake. Tiny, unassuming, but tough!

Not as exciting as I would have wanted. This particular story line wasn't too intriguing to me. It was a pretty obvious 1 to 1 story. I honestly want to see how more relationships grow or change throughout the series, so I guess I better keep reading on.

Anita is having another bad week. A rich man wants her to raise a zombie using human sacrifice but she refuses and this response does not go down well. She upsets a voodoo Queen who decides to have her killed by zombies. A fellow animator is murdered and what he raised is murdering innocent people all over town. Plus Jean-Claude is still trying to make her his human servant. Just another typical week for Anita...

What I like about Anita is that she isn't perfect. She kills vampires but she is scared of them. She screams and panics when under attack by zombies as any normal person would be. She hates the dark because she knows what lurks out there. She jogs so she can run faster and longer if she is being chased. She vomits at gory crime scenes. I like the vulnerability and realism of her character. She has morals and a determination to stick to those values, standing up to scary creatures even as she shakes with fear doing it. She will not blindly go into any human servant deal until she knows exactly what she is signing up to, however much pressure she is put under. You like her and could be her friend if she doesn't bring home the monsters with her. Got to feel for all her neighbours!

There is a good balance between her complicated relationship with Jean Claude and her investigative work. There are good characters who all have different relationships with Anita which are interesting to explore. The book is gory and had the added interest of exploring voodoo.

Another enjoyable read.

I’m giving this 3 stars, because I love LKH, but I had some serious issues with this book. For one thing, there should be a content warning on here for the outdated and potentially problematic language and descriptions used in this book. Anita is also like super judgmental. Coming to the Anita series from the Merry series is super jolting. I’m unsure if I’m going to finish the series. I may just re read the Merry series instead.
