Female Gray Back Badass Bear

Willa may have looked nerdy, but she was one bad chick. I'm glad she was able to hang in there although Brittney tried belittle her at times. Also I was happy to see that Matt found his mate although Easton went about things wrong. Good read.

Willa and Matt. Really enjoyed this one. This author is one of my favourites to read when I am travelling. Nothing too deep but not too cheesy. Fun interesting characters and good endings. Willa was an interesting character. Not what you would think Matt would be interested in, and he isn't at first. There's just something about her that draws him and makes him smile. He really needs to smile more, as his bear is getting more and more angry every year and he's not sure how long he can stay in control. He is desperate to find a mate and has become something of a man-ho in his search for the right woman. Willa's self centered B-with-an-itch friend and her sidekicks are the sort of woman he usually goes for. Will he pull his head out of his *ss in time?? Willa may seem like a skinny little geek, but she is strong willed and not willing to put up with any cr*p from ANYONE. Nice twist at the end. More of a slow build in the romance than is usual for these books. I especially liked the way the author handled his man-ho history and how it effects Willa's and his relationship.

Awesome kinda short. Easiest if you have read others in this world previously.

This was very nearly a perfect shifter romance for me. Willa is such a great character. Very witty and likeable. And her and Matt had some hilarious back-and-forth banter as they were getting to know each other. I also liked how Matt didn't announce right away that Willa was his mate and go all cliché dominant alpha.

Unfortunately, I do think the back end of the story wasn't quite as strong as the beginning. When the focus shifted from Matt and Willa getting together to Willa making a place for herself with the Grayback Crew, she seemed to lose some of her cute, snarky spark. I also think the last bit with the changing was way too abrupt. It just disrupted the flow of the story for me.

Despite the kind of rushed and oddball ending, this is still probably my third favorite of the Damon Mountain series. Willa and Matt were just a fun couple to read about.

A great read from beginning to end. Matt and Willa's story is a fast paced turner. There's action, humor and a surprise reveal.

I had a hard time rating this because some parts were really good and other parts were not so good. I liked the interactions between the 2 MCs, but sometimes the dialogue didn't sound realistic, and parts of the story felt rushed. They jumped into commitment pretty quickly after having decided they were just going to be friends. And the end of the book came a lot faster than I expected.

But overall, I liked it and will read more by this author (especially since most, if not all, of her books are free on Kindle Unlimited).

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5/5)

This was my first T.S. Joyce book. It was alright. The length was good and the story was great right up until the end. The ending was so fucking out there and weird that I had to scroll back and try and figure out if i missed an entire-ass chapter. Its like... imagine you’re reading a book about two people and they’re at a library looking for books to read and the next scene one of them is waking up in a pool of water being drowned. Like that shit gives you whip-lash. Honestly it felt like the author didn’t know how to finish the story and just raced for some random conflict to wrap it up. It really could have been done much better.

I liked the heroine but for someone who claimed to not want to hook up with Matt, she was throwing herself at him within like 6 hours. I get that she was drunk. Ive made moves when I was drunk as well in the past.. but fuck me I swear .. this is the third review Ive written and the third book in a row Ive read where the FMC throws herself at the MMC and keeps getting denied and just. keeps. coming. back. for. more. Its just a freaking crappy ploy by the author to create conflict. It’s annoying and I hate it.

Regardless it was still entertaining and it only took me like less than 2 hours to read so yeah. I’m still gonna try this author again but I’m gonna try some of her later works in the hopes that the writing gets a bit better.

I’m not a big fan of books where all the female characters are terrible as a foil to how wonderful the MFC is.
