No rating as DNF at 45%.

I went into this book not knowing it's a FIVE book series following the same couple. Just realized that, and I'm not loving/enjoying the book enough to become that invested. I'm basically halfway thru book 1, and nothing so far has really happened.

On to my next read.

Families are a complicated thing.
More especially in Mafia households.
Their females are either treated as queens and princesses. Or as a commodity to by bought and sold.
Some of the males are either the heir apparent. Or dealt with so the next in line inherits.
It’s a cruel world of more power, more influence and not caring about the causalities inflicted on those that are the closet to you. A world of cruelty beyond belief, callousness beyond imagination and utter inhalation of those perceived as a threat.
Once I started the book I just couldn’t put it down.
Ms. Lancet hooked me into the universe she created.
I was absolutely appalled. I was heartbroken and by soul devastated.
The vileness and dismissivness going on to those that are supposed to love and protect you had me wanting to be sick to my stomach.
Noelle just broke me. I wanted to shield her. To hug her. And I absolutely wanted to send her brothers start to hell. That young lady endured some of the most horrific things. Her trauma is physical, mental and spiritual. But everyone tries a blind eye. Because as long as they are content and happy one little girl sacrificing for her family is her role and her duty.
Rafaelo is another casualty in someone else’s rise to power and glory.
Jeez what his life became had me breathless. An absolute travesty.
He’s come back from the dead. To right wrongs and destroy his enemies
He lives and breathes for his revenge. But so blinded by his need to extract his pound of flash.
He doesn’t see what’s right before his eyes.
Maybe the taste of revenge isn’t so sweet after all.
I was so consumed and invested with these two characters.
I could practically feel their pain, their anguish and their anger.
I could feel their hopelessness and despair.
I was brought to tears so many times while reading this very gripping very intense story.
When I suddenly found myself at the end book I was screaming noooo.
That cliffhanger is a freaking dozy!
I must say with how much I felt while reading, the turmoil going on inside of me, the intense feelings I had for the characters it’s a testament to how outstanding the writing was.
Ms. Lancet did a superb job not only with her writing but with how she she made me either love of hate her characters. She brought out the best in me and brought out the side that wants vigilante justice.
The plot and storyline had me spellbound. I was holding me breath many times.
My heart rate spiked endlessly. Almost throughout the book I was on the edge of my seat.
Am I waiting anxiously for The Foiled Plan?
ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY!

This book is the epitome of enemies to lovers books! read the TW if they pertain to you.

Rafaelo absolutely hates Noelle, with his entire being the moment that he realizes who she is, what she is. With his mind being completely made up with nothing but blind distaste, he begins planning his revenge. Her fate to be left up to him and him alone.

The the more time he spends with Noelle, the more drawn to her he is. Refusing to acknowledge it for anything more than him finding her attractive, Raf continues to taunt and manipulate her any way he can. This book ends on a massive cliffhanger that will make you want to devour book two the moment it comes out.

This was my first book my Veronica Lancet. There was a lot happening in the beginning in terms of introducing all the characters. I felt like we really jumped a lot as a reader and got a lot of information that we don't go back to. I also don't know if I really got any feelings for the MMC and FMC being together, felt like it was lust and revenge and no connection. It ended on a cliffhanger, and I wasn't at all motivated to move on to the next book so I think I'll just stop there.
