I loved this story so much. It was fascinating reading about the candy making process and I felt like I was right there at the factory myself. The secret ingredient and the ending were so sweet, I teared up. What a heartwarming tale about teamwork, innovation and friendship.

I genuinely liked this book. The kids were six fun with each other in the end. I'm 13, and it made me excited to read more. Of course, I'm a book worm, so that's generally the feeling I get when I read. But this book was exciting, and I can't wait to read it's follow up! The only critique I have is that the switching of characters made the story be told 4 different times. I get that they were all from different points of view, but 4 times rereading that section was a bit much. I think my favorite part was the last section, "Logan (again)" because he was the only one that told that section, so I only had to read it once. This was because all the kids were always together at the end, anyway. But truly, I recommend you read this if you like sweet, sweet mystery and adventure!

I love candy and think this book just is so delicious.

I’m obviously not the target reader for this book, but as a person that gifts books to children a ton and also a candy maker/bakery owner in real life, I was really excited to read this and buy it for all the kids in my life that say they want a career like mine.

The story was slow, had lots of holes, and while the multiple viewpoints can be interesting, I didn’t find it critical for this book as an adult. However, I can see this being great for kids to keep the story straight. I was disappointed that, at its core, it’s a Willy Wonka ripoff with mild additions.

I could have looked over almost all of this and just written it off as a book for young children if it weren’t for one key thing: the “main” character is supposed to be suffering from drastic, noticeable long term burns from tempered chocolate. Tempered chocolate, at its HIGHEST temperature shouldn’t go above 115 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s enough to cause discomfort, but certainly not lifetime scars. It’s barely warmer than a hot tub! For as much research as the author appeared to do on the candy making process, this should have been the very first thing they checked on. There are SO MANY other things in a confectionery kitchen that could cause a burn. It ruined the whole thing for me.

Reminded me a little of a kaleidoscope - every turn would reveal something different. You know the PSA - "It's all in how you look at it"? About a candy making contest for children and four kids who meet to work on their recipes. Everyone is hiding something. Also would be great for reading aloud, and it will make you want a treat! Great summer book.

so creative & so fun. chef’s kiss

I discovered Wendy Mass with A Mango-Shaped Space and haven't looked back. Her newest book didn't disappoint. I mean, it's set in a candy factory! How could it be bad? I loved that I didn't know anything about Logan until I was decently into the book. I loved the story and each of the characters were so unique.

I really liked how this book was a mystery and an adventure. This setting of this book was enchanting and really likable. I also liked the ending and the fact that it actually ended. I would love another book of this type. It reminded me of "The Gollywhopper Games" and that was one of my favorite books!I would reccomend this book to everyone!
