My least favorite arc up till now. Yoda’s story doesn’t really add anything to Star Wars saga as a whole. Nor does it make clear why this was something Luke needed experience to prepare him to being a Jedi.
I might have given this a 2 star rating if it wasn’t for the annual that’s included in this TPB. The annual was good and introduces a new bad ass character named Pash (Or Bash, as the locals call her). An engineer with Schwarzenegger sized muscles who is very proficient at bashing peoples skulls with rocks. The story emphasizes two things, the first that you can find inspiration and hope even when you least expect it. And second the dark side of fighting a war. Even when you are the good guys, you are going to ruin peoples lives or even end them, directly and indirectly. A solid character piece that zooms in on the guilt that Leia must undoubtedly feel over Alderaan and that was given very little attention in the movies.
That last point was perhaps logical given the time limitations you need to work with when telling a story in a movie, so it’s nice to have tie-in media like this to flesh out characters even more.

We take a detour from the main story to hear about the time that Yoda acted out the plot of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, but with none of the good parts. I'm also not really a fan of the artwork for the main stories, I find that it tries to hard to be realistic, and ends up looking uncanny.
I did enjoy the Annual #2 that was included. I liked the artwork, and think that the Princess Leia focused stories end up having interesting things to say about the rebellion. I am curious to see if the character Pash ever comes back, or if she is only in this comic.

Kind of disappointing compared to previous trades. The twist in intriguing. The annual was a good story.
3 stars for the core issues, 4.5 for the annual, averaged to 4 overall.

This is where the series gets weird. As the writers try to give some backstory to Yoda's exile, we get to see some more lore regarding the Force and force-sensitive people. It ends up being a weird experience that to me felt like the most unnatural expansion to the series so far.

Meh. I love Yoda but this whole side plot felt unnecessary. I just wasn’t interested, and the native caricature didn’t help.
