You have a galaxy full of cool and epic alien designs and yet you choose to show a species of [checks notes] white teenage boys dressed as native american stereotypes. Be so serious what was the thought process here.

This wasn't the worst Star Wars comic. The idea behind the story of Yoda's mission, and the glimpse of a different manifestation of the Force, was interesting. It fits into the tone of the original 2D-animated Clone Wars series. The problem is that I have no idea what the connection is between Yoda's story and Luke's mission to rescue C-3PO. I see no relation at all between the frame story and the flashback. Also, is Luke reading only the parts that are written as Obi-Wan's journal? If so, then he's missing most of the story that we see in the panels. But if he's reading the whole story, then doesn't that mean he knows something about Yoda before The Empire Strikes Back? That doesn't make sense to me.

Fun, interesting installment but not for me. The last book ended on a cliffhanger and this one doesn't pick up that thread. Instead, Luke flies off with Artoo and reads Obi-wan's journal which details a chapter from Yoda's life prior to The Phantom Menace. While this title eventually needs to move on from the era between ANH and ESB (only so many stories to tell), this one didn't work for me and part of that is I'm a fan of enigmatic mentor Yoda, not Warrior Yoda. YMMV
This was mostly filler, a weird Lord of the Flies type story featuring Yoda. It was... not the best. My favorite part was the annual at the end with Leia, which deserves more stars than the rest of the volume.

Main story wasn’t so hot but the annual saved the volume overall.

I've enjoyed the entire run of STAR WARS; it has been a shining light in the new canon. I was a long time EU fan as well, and this series gave me a lot of hope for the new content.
That said, Yoda's adventure here was pretty boring to read with very little progress. It could have been an issue or two, or side story, but it just kept going. When you start a volume going into R2 trying to save C3PO and end up on this strange side quest, one gets pretty disappointed.
