This was hard to like. It was very messy Bree was very annoying. The last few chapters were so chaotic and fast I wasn’t sure what the heck happened to the characterization of the main character.
I did enjoy myself briefly when Bree and Drew were at his home. Some moments were dull but some were actually cute but still not enough for me to rec this book.
Im still not over Bree threatening someone…. That was so random.. and then I forgot she was an artist! It was brought up so little, and then do it to be a big deal later felt odd.
Overall, not great

I so wanted this book to be good. I normally love Meg Cabot but this book is just bad. It’s boring and predictable, and frankly the MC is annoying and questionable if not dumb.
The hurricane stuff was just wrong. Like, actually inaccurate to the point where it’s laughable. But if you can read past that, there’s more. Then we’re supposed to not judge PEOPLE WHO LEFT THEIR PETS BEHIND IN A CAT 5 HURRICANE EVEN THOUGH THEY THEMSELVES FELT THEY WOULD BE UNSAFE THERE??? GIRL WHAT??? Meg what were you thinking!!!
At least the end half wasn’t so incredibly boring. I feel like the first half of the book was Bree getting offered an evacuation / shelter option every chapter and saying no to each one because she was “tired of running” or whatever?? So basically a natural disaster and animal abuse were downplayed in this, and then it’s also a romance. Plus a couple of modern terms like “bougie” and “ghosted” were thrown in.
So if you’re looking for a “quirky” read about a romance in a hurricane that’s unrealistic while having a bunch of awkward cliches and animal abuse thrown in, this is for you. I can’t with this book lol

Super cheesy and breezy. Not bad but not memorable.
I'll love Meg Cabot forever because of her many YA books that influenced my younger self. I'm not sure this enchanted me as much as her previous works, but it was short and sweet; sometimes cheesy, but hey, that's what I look for in a good romance book.
