I thought this book was pretty good. There are actually a couple of things I didn’t like though. I didn’t like the main character’s (Bree Beckham) idea that bad things don’t really happen in this world. Bad things do happen. You always have to be cautious. Anything can happen in any given moment. So that was a little naive. Also, I didn’t like that Bree’s mother was begging her to go back to New York. No one should ever beg someone to do something they clearly don’t want to do, especially if the person being told what to do is a grown adult. Now what I did like about the story was what Bree did for the people who evacuated the island. She helped take care of their animals after the storm passed. And she did that for no pay. That’s awesome. I think that people should be like that in real life. That was very nice of her. She didn’t have do that. I noticed that Bree was a bit forward. She kissed the guy she liked, Drew Hartwell, a couple of times. But that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with being forward with the person you like. So long as the feelings are reciprocated, there’s no problem with that. And some men are forward too and that’s okay. Bree being forward didn’t annoy me. Anyway, I really enjoyed this book. I recommend it to anyone who likes Women’s Fiction novels and likes reading about people who fall in love and does good things for people. This was a good read.

Have been reading library books instead; I’ll come back to this!
A cute story, but if you've ever been familiar with any of Meg Cabot's work (including Princess Diaries), it seems like an AU fanfic. Characters recycled into an alternate universe. I did enjoy the setting of an island preparing for and then dealing with the aftermath of the hurricane, but I would have preferred a little more depth. Everything, including the romance, seemed to be completely lacking nuance, and one dimensional. Which is odd, considering the things Bree was dealing with on a personal level.
Also some things with wording that I didn't care for, like calling a side character who displayed what could have been a social awkwardness or cognitive delay "slow".
Overall not a story I feel really strongly about.
