I loved this book!!! I stared reading it the day it came out, and I couldn’t put in down! Meg Cabot has always been my favorite author, so when I heard that she had a new book coming out I couldn’t wait to read it. Bree is probably in my list Top Five Favorite Characters that Meg Cabot created. She went through so much bad stuff in the past year, but she took charge of her life and decided to to what was best for her; move down to Little Bridge Island to start her new life.
Bree’s friendships through out the book were also amazing! Everyone she met on the island was kind to her and helped her out, no matter what! I love this book and I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

Giving it a good solid MEH. I've been increasingly feeling like Meg Cabot is just slinging books out as fast as she can and they're suffering consequently? I found several missed opportunities for editing in this one (continuity, general messiness), and it seemed kinda slapdash tossed together. Also, suffered from what MC's adult protagonists usually suffer from, which is being a doormat for 90% of the book and then Taking A Stand, But Lovingly. No! Just tell your overbearing mother/abusive ex/terrible boss to fuck off from the beginning. SIGH. No judgments but I won't be continuing with this series.
Notes:
- The witty banter was lacking. Drew and Bree were very harshly cold and then suddenly, inexplicably warmly caring. This shift would occur multiple times in a conversation/ encounter and was difficult to enjoy.
- The characters felt pretty hollow. Bree was written the best but I did not really feel like her arc was that intriguing. She did not change much.. she did get more comfortable with being herself and showing the world who she is, but it did not seem like that big a change.
- The ending seemed very thrown together... everything from her last house-visit to help a cat () to the end seemed very thrown together with all the loose ends suddenly being quickly tied off without much regard for logic... . It just became a bit too much too quickly.

Spoiler
when she finds Caleb and casually shoots Kyle's tequila (how random!?)Spoiler
of course her mom, caleb, and kyle all managed to get onto this island that is stranded from everything else... of course her birth mom casually came, having never met Bree... of course her mom has a boyfriend and it was introduced in such a weird way... of course pet food magically appeared... of course she had a chance to face down the man who tried to assault her, conveniently with 2 pitbulls and a fit bodyguard... of course her boss's wife is totally okay with all the drama happening in her house... of course Drew wants to immediately commit to her and meet her parents and help her and plan to move in right away...
If you have ever been through a hurricane or want some insight this book is for you. Bree is new to Little Bridge in the Keys from New York. Find out why she left and if she'll want to stay in this romantic comedy.
Making my way through my backlog of ARCs!
This was an airy and insubstantial confection, but an enjoyable one. Like cotton candy. Despite some heavy themes (attempted sexual assault, a natural disaster, death of multiple loved ones, addiction), they are dealt with (mostly) a light touch, and the romance felt similarly light if also enjoyable.

I had such high hopes for this. I loved The Princess Diaries as a kid, but this whole book felt dated and cringey. I also wish there had been some sort of warning about the animal harm which was way too graphic.

I chose No Judgements by @megcabot as my next read for two reasons. One; it’s the first book in a series that I hadn’t heard of before and we all know how much I love a series. Two; I have the third book in the series lined up for an ARC (how exciting) so obviously I have to binge read the first two beforehand.
