This was such a quick summer-style read. The fact that both the main characters cared so much for animals got to be more than the actual plot. I wanted to join them in making sure everyone was okay.
As for the romance of the story, it felt quick and young. There is so much more depth between the two and their backstories that could have been dealt with, that it ended up making the story feel very one-dementional.
The second book in this series is the one I really wanted to read, but of course that means I needed to read this one first. Even though they are standalone novels. Hate to say it but Bree was really annoying at first. She did come out okay in the end though. Great fun read, I'd recommend it for anyone hunkering down to weather a hurricane.
4.5 stars
This was such a sweet freaking story! I’m in a rough and stressed moment with school so this was the PERFECT reprieve during my commute to just relax and center myself. I LOVED the animal rescuing - it was such an essential part of this story that it warmed my heart so freaking much.
Such a great romance and I’m excited to meet more people from Little Bridge!

Cute story, but the summary was misleading. I read it all in one sitting. Mostly I felt the girl was snarky to the male for no reason and it did not make sense. Yet romance bloomed and I’m not sure why. But still fun and easy to read
I really enjoyed the town of Little Bridge and the comradery during the hurricane relief. Bree and Drew's relationship was fun and quirky and how they banded together to take care of the animals on the island. I was not a fan of the confrontation that Bree had with her attacker as it seemed to be very out of character for her. Not my favourite Meg Cabot novel but still an entertaining light read.
A romantic comedy taking place during a hurricane on a barrier island in Florida. There is some animal cruelty as well as someone recovering from sexual assault. Even so I enjoyed the read and will probably read more in the series.
I did not love this book, which was sad, because I usually really like Meg Cabot. For a book called No Judgment, the main character was awfully judgmental. Maybe that was the point. Not sure. In any event, I didn’t really like Sabrina. (Now who’s being judgmental?!)
I thought the “assault” situation was sort of silly. It felt a bit like Cabot was ticking off boxes for the current, popular social justice issues. There was no real depth or substance here, in my opinion. Not saying there’s anything to laugh at in what happened to the main character, just that it was referred to so much that when the revelation of the incident happened, I sort of felt like, “Oh. That’s it?” Ticking off boxes seems to be a theme in itself lately.
Maybe I’m just annoyed because the main character criticized the romantic lead’s parents for naming him and his sister Andrew and Andrea. Well, I have a nephew and niece named Andrew and Andrea, so ouch. (In all fairness, my nephew has a family name, and he GOES by Andrew. It’s not his given name.) Am I being over sensitive? Perhaps. If the book hadn’t rubbed me the wrong way to begin with, I probably would have just laughed.
Overall the book was just “okay” for me. I look forward to the next installment, No Offense. I hope I will like it a bit better.

Ugh. I love(d?) Meg Cabot back in the day but what the heck was this?! It deals terribly and irresponsibly with both hurricane prep (I'm from NC, we KNOW) and sexual assault. The main character is ignorant and with no growth and I have nothing else to say.
Why 2 stars? Because I managed to finish it and I'm a sucker for a happy ending, I guess. But to be completely honest, I listened to this as an audiobook while walking through the woods and tbh if I had to dedicate more time to sit down and read it I think I wouldn't have finished it and I would've hated it more.
Thanks!

Usually a sucker for Cabot's easy, predictable rom-coms but I was not a fan of this one. The main character is pretty unlikeable and dang is that girl THIRSTY! It was really the main plot.
