Such a fun book!
I really liked the protagonists & side characters. Very on point for hurricane season.
I like how Meg stays true to the Florida Keys. She has lived there for ages so I am glad she is sharing her new hometown. :)

Bree Beckham moved to Little Bridge Island in the Florida Keys after a bad break up and some startling discoveries about her family. A hurricane is due to arrive on the island, which is causing many residents to evacuate, but Bree thinks she can wait it out. She goes to her boss’s home, where an extended family lives in a mansion high above sea level and safe from the storm. The storm is much worse than expected, leading to power outages and destroying the bridge that connects the island to the mainland. Bree volunteers to help look after the pets that were left behind, but she needs the help of Drew Hartwell, who has the reputation of being the island’s sexy heartbreaker.
I haven’t read many books about hurricanes, and I have never experienced one. It seems like a scary experience, that can bring unexpected destruction. The hurricane in this story added some extra tension that isn’t usually seen in a romance novel. Bree is naive in thinking the storm won’t affect her very much, since it ends up taking out the power and destroying the only way on and off the island. This storm made the stakes much higher for the characters, but it also threw Bree and Drew together in a way that wouldn’t be possible without it.
I liked how the title “no judgments” was woven through the story. People made many misguided judgments throughout the story. Drew was judged as staying with many different women on the island because his truck was parked at various houses every night. Bree kept saying that the pet owners who left their pets behind when they evacuated shouldn’t be judged for their decision. Bree’s mother was also a famous judge. Despite these reminders not to judge others, characters still made judgments that weren’t necessary.
There are a couple of content warnings for this story. There was a brief scene of animal abuse and a sexual assault was described. These warnings can often make me dislike a book, but these were mild scenes that weren’t offensive. These scenes were short and resolved quickly.
I really enjoyed this romance!

3 stars overall, but 4 for the genre - a quick read after some heavier fare. Found the characters and plot endearing, even if things felt rushed at times.
I thought the book was good and entertaining, it just felt like there wasn’t much of a plot. Things just happened and the characters reacted. The hurricane only seemed to last for a few pages and I think the author could have done more during that between the characters. It lacked a large climax and seemed to end on an odd note. I liked it and don’t regret reading it, it just left me unsettled. Like someone told me the bare minimum and left me hanging in a bad way.
This was such a fun romance. I loved Bree right away and could feel her attraction to Drew through the pages. It did drive me nuts that she was so nonchalant about a CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE and seemed not even wanting to prepare much for it. We recently lost power for a week and had extensive damage from just a tropical storm, so it stressed me out a bit to see her just going along and then shocked by the aftermath.
_
I adored the storyline of her and Drew saving all the animals left behind, and how they were determined not to judge the pet owners and instead focus on what they could do. Her personal life / background were integrated well into the story and had me alternating between fury and laugher/rolling my eyes (mostly with Judge Justine). I loved the ending so much, so much adorableness at once and it was exactly what I was craving in a book.

Meg Cabot and I go way back. All the way back to highschool when I discovered her Mediator series and devoured them. It was the first time I had to wait for a book to come out in a series and I remember the anticipation! Upon this reflection I realized I should really blame Meg Cabot for that “waiting for a new book to come out feeling”.
Interestingly though I kind of lost track of her books after that. Until No Judgements! I saw it was coming out and the excitement spiked and I knew I had to review it. So glad I did! It was such a feel good rom com.
I really loved the main character. She was strong and had a good head on her shoulders. Nothing about her irritated me (which is a problem with many rom coms for Milana). I also learned a lot about hurricanes! I live in the land of ice and snow so it was a really interesting aspect for me in a book.
My one qualm was that I was waiting the entire time for her to save some pets. The blurb on the back pitches that she spends her time saving all the critters but that didn’t happen until well after the first half of the book. Maybe my animal loving heart just really pin pointed on that aspect and kept waiting for it to happen? Either way it was just a small annoyance. I can’t even call it an annoyance. More of a tid bit.
Looking forward to reading more Meg Cabot in the future!

This book was not great but also not terrible. Its about this girl who stubbornly decides to stay on the coast during a category 5 hurricane instead of evacuating like most others. She starts saving animals on the island and falls in love with a certain someone. This was a cozy romance, nothing to hard to think about and an easy read. I think many romance lovers would love reading this book, it just wasn't the best romance for me and didn't bring anything new to the table.
I'm a big Meg Cabot fan! In high school, I, of course, read all of the Princess Diaries series. Once I was a little older, I moved on to her Queen of Babble series and Heather Wells series (which is still a favorite!). So I was pretty excited when I saw she was coming out with a new book!
I liked this book but sadly wasn't blown away. The description is quite different from the actual book, so that threw me off a bit. I was expecting the storm to play a bigger role in getting the hero and heroine together, but it passes pretty quickly. It's more the aftermath that throws them together.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to like about the book. It's light and fun, and I enjoyed the relationship between Bree and Drew. I think it could have dug more into their backstories especially since Bree had a major thing to work through. That whole side story actually was a bit confusing. I'm not sure it was absolutely necessary for the character or story arc. Knowing more of Bree and Drew's backstories would have helped round them out better as characters and I think I would have been drawn into the story more.
Overall, it was a light and quick read. I'm not giving up on Meg Cabot as I have loved her work in the past. Looking forward to seeing what she does next!

Was this Meg Cabot’s best work? No, and I can fully understand the issues that people had with it. It was a little too convenient, and (even though I know literally nothing about hurricanes) I feel like there would be a lot more devastation after a natural disaster like that. But I love the way Meg Cabot writes her characters, and the banter that happens between them. I’m always entertained by the ridiculous antics of the supporting characters, and the fun dialogue between the love interests. I’d like to continue with the series whenever I have time, because I feel like they’ll be quick, fun reads.
