Hooked On You

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful Connor and Judah are? These might be the NICEST, kindhearted and wholesome characters I’ve read about. They are honestly a blessing.

I must admit - long hair on a guy has never really been my thing, so I was kinda happy when Connor had to cut it off

EMS worker who is diagnosed with a anxiety disorder picks up knitting as a stress reducer after his work partner suggests it. He goes to the local yarn store and meets a beautiful man who leads him to question how straight is he. It's a simple but cute read. Both characters are enduring and sweet. No real angst. Enjoyable and light reading.

Friends to lovers

Conner and Judah have a pretty sweet friends to lovers romance. They met because Conner struggles with an anxiety disorder and he thinks knitting will help. And Judah runs a knitting shop pretty close to Conner’s place. When things turn from friends to lovers though Conner runs. This is all new to him and his struggles and anxiety runs deep. He will have to fight through so much so that him and Judah can get their happy ending. I truly loved how this book shows the struggles with anxiety disorders and how they effect you. It’s truly eye opening about people struggle with disorders that you so up don’t know they have just by looking at them. It’s makes the love story feel authentic and relatable. This is the first book I’ve read form this author but definitely not the last.

solid and very cute romance story, low on steam but with a looot of kitschy scenes lol

I wanted to like this more. The premise is lovely, and I always love seeing mental health addressed in books.

I found it difficult to invest in Judah and Connor's relationship for the first half of the book and almost gave up reading, which would have been a shame because there are some beautiful moments of authenticity in the latter half of the book that allow you to empathise more with the characters.

I did end up rooting for Judah and Connor eventually; Judah is almost unnaturally understanding and so supportive, and whilst Connor makes a mistake, he does the work to redeem himself.

Unfortunately for me, the formality of the conversation at the start and the lack of tension for the first half meant that I didn't enjoy this as much as I wanted to.

The bonus scene is disconcerting: it must occur prior to the last chapter because at the end of the bonus scene, Judah and Connor talk about moving in together, but in the last chapter, Connor has already talked about how they live together. It needs a note stating that it occurs prior to Chapter 19, otherwise it feels like a plot continuity error.

Hooked on You was a cute, quick, friends to lovers romance.

Connor Devlin needs something to help him manage his anxiety, and knitting is his answer. His first visit to a yarn shop may have been intimidating, but that doesn’t stop him from taking on his first project. With the help of the shop owner, Judah, he able to take on his project and solidifies a friendship with the man.

What Connor never expected, was the intense, romantic feelings he had towards Judah. He had never had feelings like this for another man.

Connor and Judah fit together so well. Where Connor was muscled and bulky, I pictured Judah as lithe but a strong man. He was also very caring when it came to Connor. Which was sweet.
Their kisses were toe curling and intense, but a lot of the spicy scenes were fade to black. I didn’t mind that, because it fit their relationship and the vibe of the book.

Everything was solved a little too easily and the ending was abrupt. There were two extra scenes added to wrap Judah and Connor’s story up but I’m not a fan of those snap forward in time scenes.
