The book wasn't particularly enjoyable and seemed pretty slow in some spots. The characters weren't particularly likeable or relateable. I usually like police fiction, particularly when set in a country other than the US, but this one fell flat. If you like books that takes place during the war on drugs, you might like this. It was a pretty well written book.

OOOOOO boy this book was BORING. This was the only entertainment I had available during a camping trip so I finished it fast but I fell asleep during it MULTIPLE times. In fact, only a couple months later I've already almost completely forgotten what happens in this book. The misogyny from the author hit hard in this book, especially towards Beth. She's always described as just different stages of her pregnancy, and her labor is written out to be as if it lasted less than an hour! As a woman, this upset me. The only exciting part of this book was the little heist at the end to catch Rashidi and even then it was still frustrating how it barely even worked. Let alone the plot hole that Rashidi's name changes between this book and the next one with 0 explanation. I got almost no indication of who Rashidi is as a person as most of this book is spent following more minor antagonists that don't ultimately matter. The book ends with a cliffhanger that makes this book feel unfinished and just a setup for the next one. This book along with the first one can most definitely be skipped in this series. Boring, too much of a focus on boring art and boring characters. I almost didn't read the 3rd book but glad I did as it was better than these last 2 and the 3 end books were fantastic.
