Maybe?
I mean it was darker than I thought but also kinda not that dark. Like in a way it felt they were pretending to be what they were not. Not sure I want to read the rest of the series.

"I want to hurt you. I want to own you. I want to devour you. I want to make you mine. I'm already yours."
5 stars. This book was amazing. Absolutely amazing. Even before it was released, I knew that this was a book that I just had to have. It didn't disappoint at all.

Right from the very beginning I was hooked. I was so intrigued with Tess and Brax and their relationship. I knew, of course, that everything was going to take a turn for the worst and boy did it ever. I was anticipating it so much that when it actually happened I was speechless. It's terrifying to think that the same thing that happened to Tess happens all the time in the real world, absolutely terrifying. Her situation was too true to life and it made me a bit nervous reading it at times.
Tess was such a fascinating character to me. I loved her spirit; I loved her fight. I honestly was expecting her to be a simpering mess and a pain in my ass but (for the most part)I really liked her. I only say for the most part because I feel like the whole thing with her and Brax at the end was bullshit. I didn't like how she spent the entire first half of the book trying to get back to him and then when she does she's a total bitch to him. I get it, her heart wasn't there anymore, but she didn't tell him anything and she never even tried with him which annoyed me. Other than that, she was great. I loved her determination and the entire thing with wanting to keep her name to herself because it was all she had left was admirable. She was feisty and her ability to fight back and push Q to his limits was really entertaining in a sick type of way. Don't you dare judge me.
Q, oh, Q. I honestly had no idea how I felt about him right up until damn near the end of the novel. He was cold and wouldn't let Tess get to know him at all so I had no idea what his intentions were. I didn't know if I was suppose to hate him or not. I didn't though, of course, because he's French and a dominant hard ass and I'm a whore for those type of guys. Again, don't you dare judge me. I liked how he wasn't trying to make himself to be the hero because he's not. He's a dick. He gets off on hurting Tess (and lets her know this repeatedly) and he's unapologetic about the way he treats her and their situation. He also cared though which was nice to see that humanity in him and how far he was willing to go for Tess. By the end of the book I was swooning over him hardcore. Especially after the epilogue.
I loved this book. Everything about it. I don't think I can stress that enough. Q and Tess have such an intense and non traditional relationship that I'm craving more. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go cry in a dark room until the release of Quintessentially Q.

So dark and captivating. I didn't read trigger warnings or summary before starting and I was a little nervous by chapter 4 that it was going to get too dark for me but I couldn't put it down. I finished in one day and it was excellent. I would highly recommend for any and all dark romance readers. Duet style narration is spectacular. Hannah Belle & Jacob Morgan bring so much emotion and tension to the performance it really elevates the story. This is one I think is definitely better listened to than read.

Holy ES-CLAW-VEY! I love when a book has another language in it because I pretend to totally know what they're saying while I'm googling (merde-shit) and crap it's hot.
Holy shit I loved this book!!! Pepper Winters did an amazing job of making sure I was completely sucked into this story. I can't wait to read not only the rest of this series but the rest of Pepper's work!

I gave this 4 stars because it had me DISTRAUGHT. I was actually feeling all of Tess' anxiety throughout this book.
I honestly don't think I really loved this book (the premise is pretty standard, woman kidnapped and sold off in human trafficking and ends up falling for her master) but I really enjoyed the way it was written. I like when I can feel the emotions of the characters, it means I'm really falling into the story.
Tess and Q stressed me out, but am I going to read the rest of the series? Absolutely.
Read the triggers though...
I wouldn't call this a dark romance, but the things that happen in the story could trigger some people (sexual assault, violence, kidnapping). Also it's has bondage, S&M, etc. So if thats not your thing, move along.
