Really enjoyed this book. I liked the excitement and pace of the action. It read like a sci-fi apocolypse zombie thriller (only with vampires). I normally would see vampire on the jacket and put it back down. I'm glad i gave this a chance: the way the authors greated the vampire pandemic as a viral outbreak gave it a bit more sci-fi feel (and thus more realistic) than a traditional vampire novel.

I enjoyed a new take on the traditional Vampire story but it was a bit repetitions in places. I like the characters, even the villians. And I like the main vampire hunter's back story.

i read this book for a book club but didn't find it to be stellar reading. Guillermo should stick to making movies.

A quick and fairly fun summer read, but, ultimately, not that scary or engaging. I expected a better monster from Guillermo Del Toro and, while I don't regret reading this, I doubt I'll pick up the subsequent books.

Different twist on the Vampire story, I like it a lot.

You know, I really shouldn't read vampire books seeing as how I don't like vampire stories. I need to stop doing that.
However, I will say Ron Perlman is a good reader. That shouldn't be surprising; he's always cast in a wide range of fantasy characters, yet I was still amazed at how much I enjoyed hearing him read.
I thought the story was slow to start and I was frustrated by the last few chapters. While I liked the old-fashioned horror story feel - not a lot of gory details while much is left to the imagination - I felt the pacing was off, the characters weren't the best, and I was really irked with the whole Kelly/Zack resolution.
These are pretty gross vampires, though. Blood worms? Ick! I liked that vampirism is a parasitic disease.

Too slow. I was audiobooking it and abandoned it after 3+ hours with very little happening.

Den är läskig, äcklig och trollbindande. En riktigt bra thriller.

I didnt like this at first - very choppy - it switched focus so often I found it hard to care about any of the characters. After a while it did get better, it was a quick easy read - great idea, very creepy!
