I didnt like this at first - very choppy - it switched focus so often I found it hard to care about any of the characters. After a while it did get better, it was a quick easy read - great idea, very creepy!

Yet another Vampires-as-virus-take-over-the-world book, but at least this one was enjoyable. It took a little too long to get started, but I think that's mainly because it is the first in a trilogy. I have no desire to read the rest of the saga, but this first book was fun enough.

I had a big nitpick with the book, and it's admittedly trivial, but that was the main character's name: Ephraim, mostly called Eph. It just didn't read right and sounded awkward in my head. Add to that the fact that his female sidekick was named Nora, and I'm constantly distracted by the similarity to Nora Ephrom.

The book starts well enough with the mysterious deaths of nearly all the passengers and crew aboard a transatlantic flight. The main character is an expert in disease control, so it was interesting to follow his investigation. As the book progresses, we meet more characters and watch and learn as the disease of vampirism progresses.

There are a lot of things that didn't make sense even within their established rules, and it seemed as though there were a lot of red herrings and blind alleys in the plot, which was frustrating. On the other hand, I had very low expectations going in, so it didn't bother me that much. Just a fun, scary, vampire book.

Overall a pretty good book, read a little too much like a screenplay for me (would make a great movie though). There were a lot of really scary, suspenseful bits that were pretty hair-raising. I liked the twist of vampirism as a sort of virus and the CDC guy being the hero. And hey no one *sparkles* pshew. Guess I'll try the second one in the series since it ended with quite a cliff-hanger.

Excellent story. Reads like a TV show, and I mean that in a positive way. Great pacing, changing from perspective to perspective in a way that feels natural and always keeps your attention.

you don't stop in the middle of a vampire-attacking-hero moment to explain what a trephine is so the hero can use it as a weapon. you don't.

i couldn't finish this. i put it down and i couldn't bring myself to pick it back up. maybe if i had the copy in poland, but i don't. it's here, in the US, where i only have a little time to read before i go back. it's not worth using that time to read this.

I scared the bejeezus out of me. creepy stuff

Points for a creative take on Vampirism. Points for being an engaging read, the fear factor keeps you going. Not enough substance for me otherwise...and what vampires are in this book, well...disgusting.

What a suprise! I just got so much into that book, it is perfect!
