I absolutely loved the art and the whole... queer-gothic-horror-fairytale vibe this had going on. The story was confusing though. I enjoyed it anyway, but I'm not sure I fully understood it, even after reading twice in a row haha. Gorgeous black, white and red art, with some truly horrific/body horror/gore pages. If you don't mind reading more for the art and general atmosphere than for a comprehensive story, I would recommend.

As dreamlike and disorienting as any of Carroll's work. She's developed this tantalizing narrative slight-of-hand, these stories that unspool in a way that is somehow both deeply immersive and leaves the reader unsure of what they read. And of course, her art is killer. I've often been struck by how her online comics really intentionally used the medium of the screen - and this short graphic novel has some masterfully effective page-turns.

The keyhole scene is something that will stick with me, haunting and beautiful, I’ll definitely take inspiration for writing my novel. Stunning erotic and grotesque illustrations - right up my street

This has beautiful illustrations but the plot makes no sense. I can see what the book was trying to do but nothing converged well to make a sensical story line. Through the Woods is great. This, not so much.
