Beautiful art but the story was a bit convoluted.

Well that was...uh, interesting.

sometimes i have no idea what carroll is on about but the pictures are lovely and there's lesbians and vampires and lots of use of the color red, which i enjoy

I'm just a bit confused with the end. I feel like there was a suspenseful build-up but I'm still unsure about the overall purpose. It was a visually beautiful graphic novel but I wanted a bit more out of it in terms of the story and conclusion.

The art is great and the framing of the story used in the comic was cool, but I did feel like half of the story was missing.

very pretty art but they forgot to write a story. tragic.

Emily Carroll packs tremendous power into this short read, which can be described as queer erotica-meets-horror fairy tale. With her signature colour scheme of black, white and red, Carroll weaves a story of fear, desire and seduction about a cat-woman who visits a vampire’s castle in order to kill her. A stunning work although I’m not sure if I was meant to understand a clearer story or if I was meant to be left with the questions I was when I finished. I also feel like the publishing format and paper choice maybe lets it down a little (compared to the glossier Through the Woods).
