I have never seen the word "perhaps" so many times in a single book. Took about 33% of the way through to get to a point, then didn't find its pace again until the end.

You know when you eat something very sugary on an empty stomach and it tastes good for the first couple of bites but then you feel sick and hollow? Yeah that’s how this book made me feel.

I love this book so much. It is probably one of my absolute favorites books of all time. It really just inspires me to live big, be curious, and live in a balance of live like there is no tomorrow and there is always time for life. It’s bittersweet, heartbreaking and just perfection.

Really enjoyed this book, which was a pleasant surprise after thoroughly disliking V.E. Schwab’s “A Darker Side of Magic.“

I loved that I felt a connection with and cared for Addie, Henry, and even some of the smaller side characters. The queer representation and characterization in this book is something I hope to see in more books! Addie’s and Henry’s bisexuality/pansexuality is straightforward without needing to be any sort of plot point, conflict, or character trait. I can’t really overstate how much I appreciated this.

None of the major “twists” or plot points came as a surprise, but it was very well executed and those neatly delivered staples of the genre still packed a satisfying emotional punch. It was delightful to explore the world with Addie throughout the vignettes of her life.

Wow wow wow. This book just ripped my soul out (pun intended). I struggled in the beginning and felt there was too much descriptive imagery and not enough “plot” actually happening. But then when Addie met Henry everything changed. I couldn’t put the book down. That ending was absolutely beautiful.
I love that Addie learned to play Luc’s game and will hopefully be free one day!

This was very long but well worth the read!
