I didn't disagree with anything she actually says, but some of it is quite a stretch from the given text. For example, she points out that Paul uses the word "Now" as a transition from the previous passage, but writes a whole chapter on how important it is to turn to God Now. Overall, she gives the impression that for passage will allow you to use God to get what you want. The last chapter clarifies this, but can't undo the entire rest of the book. There are much better resources available if you want to read something about who God is and what He's done (and can do).

I thought this was going to be a fast, easy read since it is so short... Boy was I wrong! Priscilla does a fabulous job really, deeply expounding on Ephesians 3:20-21. It was so packed that I could only listen to bite-sized chunks at a time!

Also, thumbs up to the narrator, Lisa Renee Pitts. She did an absolutely fabulous job really putting a lot of emotion into this and retaining the heart & soul that I am sure Priscilla Shirer put into writing this book.

I highly recommend it to anyone & everyone, especially those who are wanting to grow deeper in their prayer life by truly realizing that God is able to do it all!

“IMPOSSIBLE. IMPENETRABLE. UNCHANGEABLE. Maybe so—until God gets involved. No matter the details of your circumstance, His raw power potential and immeasurable ability refuse to cower in the face of any challenge. Nothing is impossible with God. Nothing. Not even that thing.”

This tag line aptly summarizes Priscilla Shirer’s uplifting devotional book, God Is Able. If right now you’re struggling because your problems are looming larger than the Lord’s presence in your life, you need this book!

God Is Able is a fast read. But not because it doesn’t have important things to say.
It’s simply that Priscilla’s style is so down-to-earth and easy to take in, you’ll feel like you’re hearing from a good friend—one who has been where you’ve been and knows just what to say. It’s a godly, positive, pep talk that you can re-read as often as needed!

Here’s an excerpt from God Is Able. Take a moment to read it, and let Priscilla’s words give you hope today.

From Priscilla: “No matter who you are, however old or young, there’s always at least one thing. That thing in your life that you can’t seem to escape or fix or solve . . . You’ve prayed. You’ve asked. You’ve begged. You’ve fretted. You’ve calculated . . .And honestly, you’re starting to seriously wonder now if God can do this, if He can do . . . It.

I’ve got a few Its myself.

In the midst of these various challenges and struggles that come together to threaten my sense of security, stability, and balance, I’ve found my worse fears confirmed.

I am insufficient, outmatched, and incapable of fixing everything.

Sometimes I don’t know how I’m going to make it through the day.

But I’ve also learned something else—something that changed my entire life.

God is able."

See? A great pep talk! Here’s one of the many quotes I marked . . .

As soon as you connect your current circumstances to your God, He raises a banner of hope in your mind & heart. ~Priscilla Shirer~

Ugh! I read this as part of a book club/Bible study with a group of friends. The time spent with them was the only part of it that was worth my time. It was shallow and repetitive and I would sum up a few chapters as “prosperity gospel”, “God is your sky fairy”, and “God’s intervention in your life is transactional - done primarily to bring glory to God”. I honestly don’t think that was the author’s intention, but that’s how it read to me. If I had started this on my own, I would have quit reading long before reaching the end.

This is the first book I have ever read by this author. She has a unique way of breaking down a passage of scripture that makes it simple and applicable. I loved this topic and the simplicity of her writing and explanations. Great read.
