Especially over the top and ridiculous. Immature writing style and an impossible to like main character.
3.5. Although I enjoyed this book way more than Jay's journal, there were parts where I just could not STAND the amount of CAPITALIZED WORDS and the STUPID QUESTIONS. It all seemed exaggerated and frustrating. The only thing that saved it from a solid 3 stars was the ending which was nicely written and heartbreaking.

Basically a reworking of Go Ask Alice by Anonymous.
Having read both, I feel that Alice is a little more gritty, more forthcoming about the downside of drugs. Lucy seemed to gloss over the bad consequences, zip through rehab and not go very in depth on the main characters determination to stay clean.
As a result I couldn't get on board with the parents seeing her as a new different kid when she comes home. In the end I wasn't even surprised that she overdosed. My first thought was "d'uh she was barely clean and hanging with the same crowd."
I understand the message, sort of a scared straight in book form but maybe a little less "drugs make me feel soooooo good" and a little more "rehab really helped me in this way".

I couldn't put it down. It was very much like "Go Ask Alice" but I feel like kids could relate to this book more then Go Ask Alice. However the two books compared next to each other were from two different eras.

I just couldn’t stop reading. I read “Go Ask Alice” a long time ago, so I knew exactly what this one would be like. Even though I knew how it would end I was so involved in the story. It was so sad cause she thought these were her friends but little did she know finding this group of friends was the worst thing to happen to her. This diary take you on a journey of a 16 year old girl who ruined her own life. If you ever need a wake up call this might be the one you need.
