Another great book from A.E. Via. Quick and Cayson are just amazing together. Looking forward to more in this series. Great to see some favourites (God, Day, Judge & Syn) from another amazing series show up. Fingers crossed for Ford and Dana next.

2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 to reward the better editing this author finally got!

What can I say, here? The editing was much better than I've come to expect from this author! Other than a couple of minor things that I've already forgotten the particulars of, there were no major spelling or grammar errors, yay for that!

I think this story was even more ludicrous than I've come to expect from this author. Via loves her a good, badass alpha male with a heart of gold, and this time she gives us that in Roman "Quick" Webb. Roman started to fall for Cayson in the first book of the series, but he acted like an ass, so he spends the first quarter or so of this one making up for it. He does pretty good at wooing Cayson and winning back his trust.

What I didn't like was how silly it was that, in his whole life, Cayson NEVER found a guy that was willing to date him in the open. He's always found guys who treated him like shit, guys who used him while hiding in their closets. Cayson, a smart, kind, sexy doctor, couldn't find a man who wanted to date him openly? Get real, people!

And then there was the "Ex" Doctor Joe, who very quickly went into caricature villain territory, so over the top it was ridiculous. He went from the closeted guy who used Cayson for hookups, but wouldn't fuck or let himself be fucked (what was Cayson getting out of this exactly?) to an obsessive psycho who shows up at all hours, makes threats and even
Spoiler takes out a hit on Roman
. This guy was just too much.

If all you want is some mindless good fun with some hot sex and a hot alpha male, you'll probably like this, but if you want actual logic and a sensible plot, maybe check elsewhere.

Ok, folks, I know this is the next day, but I just thought of something else that bugged the HELL out of me during the first half (probably more) of this story: Cayson's constantly "aching hole, because he hasn't been fucked in so long. Sorry, but the only time I've ever had "aching holes" is maybe AFTER a good pounding, not because I've been missing one. Is this a guy thing, or just something silly on the part of way too many M/M authors? Does a man really feel the need for sex as an actual, physical ache in his asshole?

I LOVE Roman. He's funny and intense and sweet. I love how his character is written.
The Dr, I forgot his name, Bryan I think, was kind of annoying. I really don't know what Roman likes in him.
I get it, but I didn't like it. I still enjoyed this story. It was entertaining. Aiden Snow, the narrator is amazing as always!

Another great book,  as good as the first one. I liked how Quick wasn't sure how to romance someone and sought help, and how much he wanted to woo Cayson - not just fuck him. I didn't love Caysons desperation for human contact, but did like his self motivation and respect, that he decided he deserves for a man to really try for him and didn't make it too easy on Quick, the pacing was really good in their relationship, although as always with these stories there was instalove. The conflict came in the form of a bitter ex-fwb, who got what was coming to him in the end. And as always, the narrator was fantastic.

When these bounty hunters are in - they are ALL in!

I do like how sweetly OTT in love they get, and how protective they are. I kind of enjoyed the upset Joe created, I found myself eagerly looking forward to him getting soundly schooled for his bullshit.

Found it difficult to picture Quick, or see him as a sexual person after the first book. Something about him being Vaughan’s father… not sure. Was ok though, it didn’t spoil the story for me.

Liked Cayson, glad he finally had someone to care for him. Found him a little hard to picture too, definitely had a picture in my mind initially. But then there was so much talk about previous men treating him poorly and thinking he was unattractive, it started messing with the image I had. But regardless, I do always love it when someone who has had a bad run and is lacking confidence finally finds someone who adores them - after all, that's the dream right?

Like the first book, again found myself laughing at times because of how intense, extreme, and just all-in, it all was. Again, not sure that I’d read these in print, but entertaining as a free listen.

I had to DNF by chapter 17 - It was making me cringe. Quick was such an overbearing ass. No matter how many times Cayson asked him to calm down or let him handle something, Quick was suddenly right there acting like his bodyguard. It was just a turn off. Quick seemed overly simplistic. He treated Cayson like complete garbage in the first book and wanted to act like it never happened. His internal homophobia was never addressed.

Plus Cayson was such a meek and kind of pathetic man. The ongoing situation with Joe just made him seem so sad. He was a grown man accepting scraps from this closeted jerk. Joe wouldn’t even have anal with him because he thought it perverse but would let Cayson suck him off. Cayson was a successful doctor so why he felt this was enough just didn’t vibe with me. And the fact that Cayson was disappointed he’d lose his friend when he decided he wanted to date Quick was…odd. Joe was never his friend. In any way.

So I bailed because I didn’t like either MC.
