Finally found a worthy series!
An exciting adventure from start to finish. I can not wait to read what the rag team will do next, and where it will take Harley Merlin on her quest to find out about her past.
A worthy series that fans of Cassandra Clare and Lauren Kate are sure to fall in love with.
Bella Forrest has got my attention.

Here's the problem I have with this book. It's completely cliche. The plot, characters, their interactions, dialog and the situations are all non original. And, you have twenty something characters acting like middle schoolers. I won't be moving on to book 2.
Absolutely loved it! The writing is a bit lazy and repetitive at some times, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the entire series! Recommend for ages 12+
A page turner...I have been stuck in a book rut and each page has me captivated. I would recommend it for all lovers of the Harry Potter series.
Important definitions:
murmur:
say something in a low, soft, or indistinct voice.
mutter:
say something in a low or barely audible voice, especially in dissatisfaction or irritation.
Note to author: Please use something other than "murmur" or "mutter" for utterances, these words are repetitively and improperly used. Characters throughout the book will be described as murmuring or muttering, despite the scene or context. It doesn't make any sense to have characters muttering during an intense magic battle! It makes even less sense for someone across a field to hear them mutter things.
To readers: I read the first and second book in the series. I got 12% into the third book and just could not force myself to care. The main character is irritating, the other characters are inconsistent and boring. The ethnically diverse friend group is ruined by the egregious stereotyping done. The writing style is haphazard and immature - I get that the books are intended for a young audience but that doesn't excuse poor writing. By the third book I felt like I was reading someone's blog post, not a novel. I don't mind the occasional grammatical error but I felt like I was proof reading for editing.
It's a shame that the writing is so bad and the characters so unlikable, because I really enjoyed the world the author was setting up. I find the way that people in the world express magic fascinating and the covens/secret societies interesting. I was hopeful for a more grown up world similar to Harry Potter but this is not going to scratch that itch and perhaps it was unfair of me to expect that. If the author reads this, I don't want to discourage you from writing, from what I can tell after the first two books you're great with world building, and that's usually the hardest part. Focus on becoming a better storyteller and learning how people from different genders and cultures authentically interact. And stop having so many characters throw temper tantrums.
I have never returned a Kindle book before this series, but I ended up returning the third book after getting a few chapters in. Not only could I not finish the book, I just wanted it out of my Kindle library.

It was fine. Some really interesting ideas, but overall - I was not the target audience. A tad too angsty for me.
I know Harry Potter gets a bit angsty around Order of the Phoenix, but you get 4 books before that one to really get to understand where it's coming from. This one, you're dropped into the angst.
But there were some cool ideas in this book.

Solid book
The beginning started out rough. It was hard following what was happening. Then everything started flowing a lot better. I liked the characters and the plot. This was a great first novel to the series.

Definitely a series to read! Only read the first one and excited for the others in the series. Definitely a book that couldn't put down.
Didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. I'm debating if I'll try out another one in this series.
