3.75 Stars, a good start, couldn't get everyone's HP comparison out of my head though, will continue with the rest of the series which thank god it's already complete because I'm impatient
This book reminded me a lot of the Mortal Instruments series, and I genuinely enjoyed it. My one pet peeve was the author kept referring to the protagonist's car as "my Daisy" which was incredibly infuriating for absolutely no reason. Overall, I think people who enjoy the aforementioned Mortal Instruments, or just fantasy in general will enjoy this book. I am looking forward to reading the second book!
I needed a palate cleanser and chose this book. I liked it, I’ll probably pick up the second one the next time I need a break from my usual genre.
I do not like “Warlock”. Can we please agree to use “Wizard” instead? Bella, I know you’ve written like 20 of these, can you edit them real quick to swap those words???? :D

I honestly could hardly finish it. Originally selected it because of the reviews stating that it was “the next harry potter series,” but that could not be more far off. The dialogue is almost too cringey to read, the main characters are in no way likable, and the plot doesn’t really make any sense.
adventurous
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
Overall good plot and characters - the MC obsession with her car (that was not relevant to the plot) just really kept pissing me off.
Great book
Loved reading this book , very gripping totally unexpected twists in the story, couldn't put it down so much I managed to read book in a day

A little to reminiscent of some other magical stories, but I enjoyed it.
I started to read this because I saw something that said this was the book that grown-ups who liked Harry Potter were reading now. And I abandoned it. Harry Potter was a book for adults as much as it was for children. This book is truly juvenile. Hardly original in the least, taking too much from Harry Potter right off the bat, i.e. covens that can gain or lose points in an annual competition. The main character is a brat. The witch and warlock characters destined to play a role as the story progresses are a multicultural/national rainbow, coming off as very artificial. I tried to let it develop, honestly, but it was not worth it. Good for kids maybe, but not adults.
