I think the story is fun. My main issue is that the protagonist is a textbook editor, but the book itself has several grammatical errors. Moreover, for most of this series, Iris’s ex-husband is named Evan; but he is also referred to as “Ethan” at one point.
I won’t post this same review on all of the books, so I will point out here that in book four, “you’re” is used two times in the same paragraph where “your” was the correct usage.
In general, the books are too short. When I see that I am 85% finished, and find the rest of it filled with ads and excerpts, it doesn’t feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. The stories are rushed, and somehow Iris is able to cast unheard of magic without a lot of explanation for the rest of us.
I feel like these books were so close in terms of near-total enjoyment, but missed the mark for the above reasons.

Terrible choice for a beginning. Couldn't get past it.

Fun little read. I think I want this as a t series starring Sarah Michele Geller but that is 100% me showing my age.
Some good and some bad. The idea of a perimenopausal witch was a great idea but I feel like the author either hasn’t experienced it or is making assumptions. Hitting 40 doesn’t mean you pee yourself… even when your bladder is full. And what on earth is a ‘braxton hicks coach’
I enjoyed the story but, wasn't expecting it to end when it did. Could use a good edit, but may explore the next in the series.

I love this trope!! Watching as the fmc shrugs off her ex and finds her place in the world is so satisfying. When said fmc, Iris, discovers she is a powerful witch - well, I'm strapped in and ready for the ride! I was pulled in by the by-play between the sisters, the unusual choices for the mentor roles and the twisty revelations at the end. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job. (Borrowed via Audible Plus also available on Hoopla)
A middle-aged witch awakening - instant buy! Just what I was in the mood for without even knowing it.
So, Iris is 43 years old, freshly divorced, and has a teenaged son. What she really doesn't need right now is her magick sparking to life, as well as her garden gnome. But here we are! LOL
I love this middle-aged self-discovery tale. It was a refreshing take on the trope. And there are certain characters who are super interesting - hello Keir! Linda is cutely rude; I kinda miss her original nickname for Iris.
Well written, chaotic fun. Becoming a witch and crone in a potentially explosive way.
I can't wait to read the next one!
